I have a friend who works for US and he is pretty new at trying OAL options and but he asked me if I could put together a good way to get from PHL to BAH. I could not really find any real ways since BAH pretty much is only served by GF and I dont think US has a GF agreement? Or its an ID75 which is not much of a deal. It seems US benefits are too limited to make BAH viable compared to DXB/AUH

BA is not a cheap option, so I told him to consider KL.

Any ideas?

Tell him to get to DXB and then bus down to Sharjah and fly with Air Arabia to Bahrain, it's very cheap, about 170 UAE Dhirams.

How long do you think that would take in transit? Can you take a bus directly from DXB to Sharjah Airport?

was it 170 Dirhams round trip?

170 one way. The it takes about 45 mins from Dubai to Sharjah, not sure exactly how long from the airport.

BAH served by BA from LHR and KLM from AMS, both daily.

There are actually several options to BAH from USA. I have used BA previously, and will be on EK next week.

Other possibilities are:

MS via CAI
RJ via AMM
SV via JED
TK via IST
KL via AMS
KU via KWI
CX via HKG

Longer options could be AI via BOM or PK via LHE.

GF are part of ZED agreement, aren't US? If he can get a discounted ticket on GF, that's the best option considering the number of flights they have from LHR, DUB, FRA, and CDG.

His gf is a Gulf Air F/A and she is pretty new, so cant travel to Europe yet, so he wants to visit her in BAH.

SV via JED

Yeah, I use to take SV non-rev via JED to CAI, but the schedules got pretty messed up lately evnetually requiring a transit visa. SV can get pretty inconvenient sometimes for transit especially as a non-rev.
