Some news from Horizon...
First of all, expect minor livery changes on the Dash 8 fleet...instead of the stripe on the nacelle being as it is, the darker red color will now encompass the whole lower part of the engine pod. This is to hide the oil and dirt stains that are hard to remove during cleaning.
And there's more!
A year ago, most of QX's Dash 8-Q400s were 70 seat turboprops. Then they were upgraded to 74 seats. Now, the big news is that they are trying to add an extra two seats, boosting the number up to 76 seats. That being said, the FAA will allow them an additional 1000 lbs of capacity. Given the current FAA regulation on weight restrictions, many Q400s have been going out with 68-70 seat loads, although 74 seats have been installed. I sure hope that this weight addition will help!
The newest CRJ-700 for QX will be delivered on 31 Jan 2006. The tail number is N619QX. After extensive flight testing, the first revenue flight of this new bird will be the evening Calgary flight on the 12th of February. It will be flight 2492, SEA-YYC, at 9:05 PM.

Is this being achieved through cabin modifications, or through reducing leg room?

A little bit of both, although it is not totally finalized, it will probably happen. The galley is to be split up between the forward and aft sections. Currently the galley is completely in the aft of the plane. Getting rid of one side of the galley (as it is directly behind a row of seats and blocks out a window) and moving it to the front is a way to add in two more seats. The problem is, several rows of seats will go from a 31' seat pitch to a 30' seat pitch.

The last 5 rows on the left side are supposed to be the reduced 30" pitch.
As for the livery modification its going to be tested out first. Besides the lower engine stripe, the armrests will be changed from the dirty grey color of present to a dark burgandy color (same as the lower stripe color). Also the struts on Q200's will be painted all grey.
