I know B6 has announced plans to expand to Florida destinations, but I never expected PNS to be one of them.
While standing in line at a Wendy's across the street from the PNS airport, I was shocked when I realized I was standing behind two JetBlue employees. Both were wearing JetBlue IDs around their neck, and one was dressed in a JetBlue uniform (I can't specify what type of uniform because I've never flown B6, but it was blue and had blue patches on the shoulders, almost like pilots have).
I didn't talk to either of them, and I don't think there was a charter flight into Pensacola today (But I may be wrong). There, of course, is no crew base here, so why were these employees at PNS? Kind of makes me hmm...

1) They were commuters who live in PNS and use other airlines to commute to B6 bases. I've met a B6 pilot who lives in PNS and commutes to work. It seems like a pain in the butt commute to me, but apparently some do it. Many pilots from different airlines commute from PNS/VPS because many are former military and went through training in the area, plus the cost of living is relatively low and beachfront property is relatively affordable.
2) They were visiting PNS and were using their B6 non-rev benefits to fly to/from PNS using another airline.
As for B6 in PNS, I don't see it happening anytime soon. They've got far bigger opportunities. Not to mention, that it is questionable if PNS has enough O+D to make JFK service work.

Quoting MAH4546 (Reply 1): Don't read to much into it. I have no idea why there were there, but I bet it has no correlation to jetBlue announcing PNS.
Trust me, I'm not reading into it at all. I just thought I'd bring up the possibility.

Eh. We have the big military base, and that could be a big factor. I tend to agree with what you've said however.

For a s/n of "FlyPNS1" you sure do shoot down any possibilities, of any additional service/airlines for PNS. (Maybe you should change your sn.B6 nonstop to LGA would probably work. JFK isn't close enough to Manhattan.
Back to the topic...
Would be great to have B6 in PNS. But there is no room for a additional carrier in PNS currently (Ticket Counter/Gate Space)...Expansion on the terminal is expected to begin in early 2007. (So maybe B6 in 2008/2009?) One can dream!
Also at PNS FL flight's 423/426 was operated by a 737-700 today, for some reason.
