IB Fights Back. New Route LHR-LCG

IB has discontinued their flight from LHR to SCQ and has taken it to LCG. This is the company's way to fight back at SCQ local government funding of Ryanairs' flight to SCQ. SCQ local authorities are fuming over the measure as this was a very important flight for the city. Is this the beginning of the war to win the Spanish skies? MAD capacity increase, along with the new airlines that will be created are really going to spice up the airline industry in Spain. What do you guys think. Who will survive?  crowded

But this flight is via BCN no??? As same as LCG-ORY via BCN, no???

But after all the trials, FR will survive and Iberia will leave this route.

Nope, they just changed the SCQ in daily BCN-BIO-LHR-SCQ-LHR-BIO-BCN for LCG....

I've read FR might launch a second daily SCQ-STN in response to IB exit.... SCQ is a big airport (5 millon pax a year i think) so grownth can be taken for granted with FR arround

No that's a VW flight! Where do they change crews, I wonder.

You can't blame IB for making a point, but will they get good loads at LCG?

My point is that there is a silent war on at the moment between VGO, SCQ and LCG. For those not familiar just take a look at a map of Spain and you'll see that they're all very close to each other. IB will fight the LCC with all it has including political pressure. SCQ has lost an international flight to LCG and they're not happy. This flight is used by Spanish migrants from the region who live mainly in the surrey area. LHR is very convenient for them, a few years ago IB tried switching this flight to LGW and The entire community protested and the flight returned to LHR.

What SCQ fears is that IB might also transfer flights from that airport to LCG, lets not forget that LCG is a very important city while SCQ has only risen because it was declared the capital of Galicia.

I think the great losers in this up coming war are going to be Spanair and Air Europa. Their position in the market is not as consolidated as IB and the extra competition might just be the straw to break the camel back.

Yes, yes but LCG airport has a little runway. The planes that land in this airport must make a turn back (sorry but someone could translate me from spanish) DEBEN GIRAR EN LA MISMA PISTA PARA LLEGAR A LA TERMINAL.

Is Ryanair considering VGO or is it too near to OPO?

When does this service begin and does it go straight back to LHR after arriving at SCQ? I get the impression it does....

The Flight became effective from the 1st Feb!

The Flight sectors used to be
IB 4120 BIO-LHR
IB 4137 LHR-SCQ
IB 4236 SCQ-LHR
IB 4121 LHR-BIO

The IB 4137 to SCQ will now simply be replaced by the IB4133 to LCG
and the return leg IB 4236 will become IB 4134 returning to LHR

As for crew changes, these vary on a daily basis.

Sometimes we have the same crew leaving on the old IB 4137 returning on the IB 4236 and operating the IB 4121 back to BIO. Other days, the crew change in BIO!
