" More than ever a great way to fly "

This is SIA's new motto and I fully support this statement.

On my most recent trip to JFK - FRA - JFK ( June 22 and July 12th ) I was able to experience the excellent service SIA is known for all around the globe.

I already knew that this would be an outstanding travel experience as I flew SIA's Raffles Class Dec. 99 on the same route.

On June 22nd it was time to board the B744 Megatop at JFK Kennedy Int'l Airport.

The check in and boarding process took not longer than 3 min together.

I was the first person to board the plane and was greeted by SIA's beautiful F/A and was escourted to my Seat.
I was totally impressed by the First Class cabin and the seat, SIA calls it Sky Suite and now I know why.

Rich leather from Connolly, burr wood and tinted metal finishes provide an atmoshpere of elegance and comfort. It almost feels like being a guest at a 5 star Hotel.

After all the passengers were boarded the front door was closed and we were ready for push back and then take off. ( 10.30 pm )

Shortly after take off, Kris World, SIA's entertainment program started, still climbing, passing PVD and BOS I started my first movie on demand.

While playing around with the entertainment system and looking at the 14 inch monitor in front of me, it was already dinner time, the FA came by and the table was set for an exclusive dinner.

There were a lot of exclusive items on the menu and it was really hard to decide what to take.
As it was already late and I wanted to sleep afterwards I decided to eat light, some soup with crab meat and a Cesaer Salad accompanied by fresh rolls and fresh orange juice ( vine a champagne was also available. )
various assortments of cheese and ice cream in a white chocolate cover made this dinner perfect.

After dinner I changed into my blue sleeper suit, a timeless design by Givenchy, meanwhile, the cabin crew turned my seat into a full flat bed ( 76 inches x 23 inches ) fresh bed linen, duvet and a large pillow were waiting for me.

Before I finally went to sleep I contiuned to watch my movie which has been paused in the meantime.
Repetitively the crew came by and asked if I needed anything else and brought water or Juice what ever I asked for.

The movie was not yet over, as I was really tired and fell asleep, after 4 hrs of sleep, I was woken up, not by the FA as she wanted to wake me up for breakfast but by some light turbulence.

I opened the window shade and closed it as fast as I opened it. It was too bright outside, I checked the time and could not believe it. I almost slept the whole flight.
Remaining flight time to FRA approx. 1 hour, breakfast was served, fresh fruit and chilled fresh orange juice and some fresh baked rolls started a wonderful day.

The flight was almost over, shortly after we arrived at FRA Rhein Main International.

The aircraft was parked at the gate a little after 11.00.
Even though we departed JFK 45 min behind schedule, a nice tail wind and 6.20 enroute helped us to still be on time.

The only dissapoinment on this flight is that I was unable to visit the flight deck, sit in during touchdown in FRA, respectively. But this is due to Singapore's new security measurements and I can understand that.

I left the plane thinking to myself, travel can be really enjoyable. Before exiting the airplane I talked to the crew a little and then I finally said good bye and they smiled as they always do.

Thank you Singapore Airlines for making this trip a memorable and very enjoyable as well.
They really know how to treat an individual customer.

P.S the trip back ( FRA - JFK ) was as good and I was even allowed to visit the flight deck.

I just thought I share this experience with all of you at airliners.net

god, that sounds like the way to travel! i would give anything to fly in a sleeper seat, no matter where it was going or what airline it was on.

How much was your ticket?

As my username says, I am a big fan of SIA, I have flow B747-400, A340-300, B777-200 and A310-300.

All my flights have been on eco.class. I have always wanted to know if there is noise during take-off in the first class cabin in the B747-400.

A full fare ticket would be around $ 8000.00 round trip.
Not that I sound snobby or so, If I had the money I would fly First Class every flight, especially on the International leg, domestic within the US it is not worth it.
I have been travelling a lot within the US and accumulated a lot of miles and this is what it was an Award Ticket 100.000 miles was the price for the ticket and every mile was worth while.
I flew SIA's Raffles Class Dec.99 also on an Award Ticket ( 80.000 miles ) and this time I wanted to try First Class.

For Megatop:

There is almost no noise during take off, you hardly hear the engines, you can't even see them once you look out of the window.
And once you have the headset on with the noise reduction you hear nothing else than the movie ( in Dolby Surround )
You feel like being in another world up there.
If you ever have the chance try it, it is worth it, even though I heared that SIA's economoy is really good and one of the best amoung leading airlines in the world.
