As reported in the New Zealand Herald Feb 3, Air Tahiti Nui will commence a direct air link between Auckland and New York City commencing March 26.
The service will be operated by A340 with a tech stop at Papeete.
I don't know if this is in addition to their NY flights originating in Sydney or whether this is just a reconfiguration of their NY services altogether but previously to get from AKL to JFK with TN, we either had to overnight in Tahiti or backtrack to SYD and join the flight there.
TN's present services ex AKL all serve LAX (TN101/102) so it will be interesting to see how this new service develops.

This was reported sometime ago on here.
TN will fly ex SYD on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday which is the same days they operate out of AKL. So the SYD flights have been rescheduled. The AKL flights have been retimed a little aswell to offer the shortest connection time.
