One week ago I was at a conference with Andre Conesa Cintra's chief ( or now Aeromexico's big big chief) and he said there are no plans for a new scheme. Right now their priorities is to invest in several projects they have at MEX ( being this moving their maintenance base due to Terminal 2 construction) and the renewal of the fleet. But what could he possibly know...

I don't think they need a livery renewal, although the rumor's present since AM ordered the 777.

Quoting a well known a.net photographer: "AM livery is one of the best in the world, it's just that we're used to it". I totally agree with him, changing AM livery would be totally out of logic. People like it, and alot! Unless they plan to do a livery change alla KLM with a little change that made it's livery much better. OTOH I don't think they have the money to do so.

Cheers

No need to change a great livery.
Aeromexico has always had great liveries!!!
I remember the splendid original cs of the DC10s at Orly.Always a great sight.
Anyway if there is a small change in the actual livery , guess it will be revealed with the T7s , in some months to come.

It is a fantastic livery. And they have really made baremetal work for them. Their airplanes are in impecable condition. I hope they don't change it, but if it is that they do change it, I hope that it is something just as good or better. Many a times airlines change their livery, and the new scheme just look plain sily.

There is something special about planes....

I agree with you and the spotter, Juventus. Aeromexico's planes are simply gorgeous. I really hope they do not change their livery...

While we’re on the subject, by the time I had enough sense AM was already wearing the new 80s-orange livery. I can recall thinking that it was just awful when compared to their brand new 80s orange livery, but in the 80s, everything from the 70s was considered shameful. Did people actually like the 70s livery since it looked so appropriate for the time? It must have looked really off and in-style to see an AM DC-10 live and sitting next to a very republican looking TWA 747, or a conservative red IB DC-10, and a very modern looking VIASA DC-10.

I second that!!! For the last 09 years that I've been spotting I think red was better!!! Imagine AM's B737s with the old one or AM B777s!!! But nope... that won't be!!!

Quoting KLM685 (Reply 1):
But what could he possibly know...

Yeah, what could he possibly know... I'm sure he doesn't know the difference between an MD80/87.... he perhaps don't know a B77LR exists and he sure ignores LAN's strong cargo fleet and division and percentage of income to the airline... and many more...

I've heard tail will stay the same but there might be a slight modification in the fuselage...

I do hope they change it!! AM needs a new one... MX's "new" livery hopefully it doesn't last long...

Who?
I didn't mean that AM need to change their logo, colors, and everything I just think it will be good to add a little change to their great livery... Nothing drastically! Thanks.......and I know perfectly that the airline needs and priorities is not to change their livery.....that Was why I wanted to ask about this rumors because it sound weird to me.....! Thanks
greetings!  Wink

Except for the painted radome which just spoils an otherwise OK livery.

Agreed, the latest livery is spot on....colors, bare metal-and yes, their planes are immaculate inside and out...they have come una distancia larga...from the 70's and 80s' bankruptcy and shutdown of ops.

I quite like the current MX scheme. Although it does seem to be geared for 'business travel', I think both the old and new MX liveries are very nice. Of course i've never and will never be a supporter or predominently white fuselages (look at my national carrier (BWIA's) colour scheme)...but i must admit that MX has carried it well over the years. The same could be said for the UA livery as well.

AM has one of the most sharpest looking liveries at the moment. In my opinion I dont think they should change it. It will look immaculate on their B777s. Their previous liveries looked very nice as well. I especially liked the red scheme which complimented the DC10's. There is something about having that color on that particular aircraft.....its a perfect match. Very bold and sexy.

I agree that AeroMexico's Livery is great as is and should stay just as it is.

I flew am AeroMexico 737 from SAN to PVR nonstop in October, 2005. The plane looked brand new and sparkled inside and out. I sat just forward of the wing and noticed the front of the engine nacelle was rimmed in aluminum which reflected the sun throughout the flight. I thought it a classy touch.

The interior cabin was also nice. The seat upholstery featured a detailed repeating pattern in blue/green, which again looked very classy and each seat had a white cloth over the headrest.

I also recall that, although the flight was only 2.5 hours the airline served a complete lunch!

A wonderful ride and a great start to a vacation. I think AeroMexico is doin' it right as is!

It definitely ranks up there among the best...especially nothing beats the shining 767 in AM colors.

Yes but that can't be changed because of the materials used for the radome and wingbox.  Wink But they could tone it down to some darker grey, like AA.

I agree, the MX colourscheme is hideous. How about MX going for something rather retro, like they used to have on their old DC-10s. Now that was classy and very Mexican (mostly because of the font used for the Mexicana titles).  Smile

One thing I really like about Aeromexico is that they've kept a link with Mexico. Somehow when I see photos in old, new old and new colours, I can always recognise the link with the home country of AM. There is just something that remembers me of Mexico, while I feel MX has lost this connection with this black and white tail IMO. The colourscheme with the differently coloured tails was way better than what they have now.

I mean, there's nothing wrong with showing off where you come from, BA did it with the crest on the tail in the Landor colourscheme, LR used to do this either with a Costa Rican national symbol or painting the Costa Rican flag on the V-Stab, and SU today with their grey fuse and waving flag colours.

So I do hope AM keeps their current colours and don't do something too fancy with their branding.
