Hi all, i was looking at www.thaiskyairlines.com and the page isn't the most informative (or prettiest).

I want to fly BKK-HKG-BKK, in April on the Tristar. Does anyone know what their schedule is, and approx. what price tickets are? I'm thinking of going out 7:th and coming back 8:th of April, or thereabouts.

Thanks for any help.

you have to book ThaiSky by a tour agency in Bangkok. Thats the only way you can get a seat on the L-1011, but you might be on the 747 they use now, surprise surprise. But the only way to get the seat is by tour agency in Bangkok.

Its not as cheap as you think it is.

I don't think that this airline still operate the route between HKG and BKK.

Thai Sky is only bookable through a tour/travel agency in the BKK area, just go in and tell them you want to fly Thai Sky Airlines, then they will look up the availability and prices and have the ticket booked for you.

Its rather a wierd way Thai Sky does it, but mainly its pax are parts of big tour groups.

If you wanna try 'ThaiSky' , below are the information of the recently operations, delays and delays happened all the time because of the poor maintenance of the Tristar.

1 Feb 9I 3216 19:45 BKK > 22:00 HKG
Delayed to 2Feb 06:10 arrived at HKG

1 Feb 9I 3217 20:45HKG > BKK
Delayed 2 Feb departed at 08:19

**Totally 3 delays incidents last week.***

The Hong Kong Aviation Department looks really closely with
Thai Sky, if it is still safe to operate.

There was a Thai Sky L1011 at KWI last week, operation a military charter for the Japanese forces. So I presume it still is operating on pax services.

Thai Sky Airlines is a joint venture between Thai and HongKong partners. It aims for cheap tour group to and from Hong Kong. That was the only information that I have read from local newspaper. We Thai almost don't know what kind of airline it is and how to book, what destination it flies to .... etc. There is no news, no advertisement not even a price list in classified ads.

I flew Thai Sky last year on one of their 2x weekly BKK-KUL-BKK rotations. We flew on -AXE and even got a jumpseat landing!!!

We called them up directly and booked our tickets which we then collected and paid for at the airport. Their phone number is on the website. I can't remember what we paid for the roundtrip but it wasn't much. And worth every cent for a L1011 ride as well as a jumpseat into KUL. Food was excellent too!

A good friend of mine was Second Officer for Thai Skies last year, flying L-1011's. He's since switched to Kaletta Airlines in the 747.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if there's a ticket agent at BKK Don Muang that sells tickets? I could have a look then upon my arrival in Bangkok... I could definitely handle a delay or two if it meant going on a Tristar hehe.

Noone has any approx. price for a return ticket? I dont really care where to, I'm only in it for the Tristar  Wink

I flew them last year. They have an office at the International terminal, take one or two stairs up above departures and ask around. A roundtrip to HKG should come to about 120 euro (6000 baht), not that much I think.

News from Hong Kong about Thai Sky,

Aviation Department of HK just warned Thai Sky should give a proper service (in term of safety and good passenger service..) in response to the recent incidents of delay. The standard of the service is one of the prime issue on the operating licence renewal in near future.

I tried to get some useful information about schedules etc while in Thailand a few weeks ago. The only flight(s) possible to buy a ticket on as far as I understood was the scheduled-charter (?) BKK-ICH-BKK and only through a Bangkok traveling agent. Thai Sky ticket office will give you the relevant `phone number. I think the roundtrip fare was around 15000 bath. They don`t fly to Kuala Lumpur anymore.
I think I saw 3 different Thai Sky Tristars at Don Muang, 2 pax and 1 cargo.
A nice surprise while riding the bus from the terminal to one of TG´s 737-400 (bound for Krab)i was to see "Sky Eyes" cargo Tristar (HS-SEC) parked beside Thai Skyes HS-AXA.

9I have NO Scheduled flights to Hong Kong and only operate during the holidays for tour group charters. Your best hope is taking their other flights to Seoul or any other destination they fly to.

Actually last summer it had similar delays, very common (I've heard numerous stories that if true, you'll never want to fly with them), I checked TPE's Real Time Flight Arrivals/Dept routinely, 9I is no longer flying to TPE (a few months ago it was listed canceled everyday), not trying to pick on them, but if they want to compete in TPE-HKG markets, they'll have to bring in at least A330 or 767, plus the price RT is only marginally cheaper than CI, BR, KA, and CX. It's almost sarcastic that the crew gave a thumb up, might as well put a middle finger instead.

Things could improve, if they bring in more 743s, at least it's much newer and the plane can accommodate high density, regional flights with all economy. as most delays/safety concerns were due to aging L1011s.

Thanks Eirik. 15000 baht is a little steep. I will have to have a look as it seem Thai Sky flights are a daytraded commodity lol.

You should probably double-check that ( 15.000 bath ), maybe it was 1500 norwegian kroner..  Wink my memory isn´t what it used to be..
