LY8863/4 will be the code which will be used for DL151/2 daily operation to TLV starting on March 28 with 777s.

This will be LY's 7th direct destination in north America after: JFK, EWR, LAX, YYZ, MIA and ORD.

Delta is set to fly again to TLV after it stopped services to this destination twice in the past, both were from JFK with M11s.

Wow, so it took the DOT less than two months to allow this codeshare. So the DOT can actually work fast  Yeah sure .

Will LY fly with its own a/c to Atlanta?

No, it is operated by DL and will be an LY codeshare.

Does LY impose their security procedures on flights with their code, or just on their own metal?

Not sure if LY does that, though given the whole situation in the Middle East, it would probably be in DL's best interest to go through EL AL-esque procedures in TLV at least.

How will this work with the Friday sabath (i.e., will DAL fly on Friday nights, if so, will El Al code share on these as well)?

All airline passengers and crew operating ex TLV go through an intensive El Al-esque screening procedure.

Air Canada and El Al had a codeshare agreement for the better part of a year which is no longer in existence. While El Al does not operate it's own metal on the Sabbath, it had no issue codesharing on the AC flight which operated to/from TLV on the days in question. Assume it should be no different with DL.

The biggest pain encountered on the AC/LY flights involved catering. Because LY is an all-kosher airline, contractually, any customers booked with the LY code were automatically provisioned with KSML's. AC still gives customers the option, and many LY customers did not want the KSML's in favor of the regular meals.

All flights from TLV are going under the same security precautions.

From ATL, it's DL responsibility to ensure security for it's TLV services and LY will not be responsible at any case for anything.

LY does offer codeshare flights on Saturdays.
LY "flies" on Shabbat to MAD, BCN, VIE, BRU, ZRH and will start to ATL...

I was hoping for more competition on US routes ex-TLV, but now it seems that LY is just expanding its US network using DL's metal. Hope for a real competition that will come from AA/UA one day. Anyway, being tied to LY with our corporate travel agreements, this should improve my life by bringing back possibility of flying to US and back on Sutardays with LY ticket.
