GULF Air has just expanded its existing codeshare agreement with American Airlines (AA) to cover more destinations. According to the agreement, AA will codeshare on two more Gulf Air destinations - Kuwait and Doha - via Bahrain.

There has said to be have been commendable rise in GF's revenue from AA after the alliance.

"AA will now be able to leverage its selling ability for US military traffic to the Mideast by utilising Gulf Air's services."said Gulf Air network vice-president Fareed Al Alawi.

Gulf Air and American Airlines signed the codeshare agreement in 1994 and it was expanded in 1998.

Where does GF pick up the AA traffic from????? I'm assuming Aa doesn't fly to the Mid-East????

Does GF codeshare with any other One World partners? Could we possibly see GF aligning itself with an alliance soon given the competitive situation in the region?

I've seen LHR a bunch of times as to where GF codeshares with AA, and no, AA doesn't fly to the middle east, but it does fly to DEL-India...and will start PVG soon....

DL used to fly to the middle east, but not anymore..

I believe it is ex-LHR.

Does GF intend to consolidate its hubs at Bahrain? Or is it still somewhat all over the place?

That is strange after that speech of the US government a few weeks ago about GF being an unsafe airline and should be avoided by US government installments.

LHR, CDG, and FRA come to mind, although I'm not sure this will benefit travelers from KWI, unless some flight times are changed. GF's connections via BAH and AUH are horrible from Kuwait when attempting to get to Western Europe.

I much prefer GF service over EK out of Kuwait so I hope this works out...

At LHR they have been doing this for several years.

Isn't AA able to codeshare with BA on Gulf flights? At LHR this would at least enable KWI passengers to fly direct, rather than changing again at BAH.

Here's a blurb from the U.S.State Department, check about halfway down the page under Aviation Safety:

This is not an actual ban, just a recommendation for US Military Commanders to avoid Gulf Air. IMHO, this is totally unfounded...

Here's the A.net discussion from several weeks ago..

the AA-GF alliance pre-dates One World by several years. For whatever reason AA has had a tie in with GF since almost the beginning of their Heathrow operation, and I remember in April 1994 picking up a GF timetable at Heathrow and seeing every AA nonstop destination from Heathrow listed as a GF destination. So the alliance is at least 12 years old.
