It seems that a couple of interesting first generation jet aircraft are based in Bucharest:

- P4-DCE Jetline DC-8
- VP-CJL Jetline Bac 1-11
- VP-CJF Jetline Falcon 900
- ??? Jetline Boeing 727
- Mia Airlines Bac 1-11
- Romavia B707

Is anyone living in or near Bucharest and has some more information on these aircraft? Are they usually sitting at Bucharest, or are they just coming there occasionally for maintenance?
Thanks

Sven

I guess you talk about BBU not OTP ? As a Romanian I can tell you the following:

BAC 1-11 were licence-built at Romaero and Mia Airlines operates one as a VIP aircraft. Other aircraft might come for maintenance.

The Romavia 707 is the biggest government aircraft of Romaina and maintenance on it is done at Romaero (BBU). I don´t know if it´s based there, maybe also in OTP.

Romaero also carries out maintenance on 727 and various bizjets, so the 727 and the Falcon 900 could have been there for maintenance.

I have no clue about the DC-8 though. Who is Jetline may I ask ?

If you want more info on Romaero, visit www.romaero.ro .

Exceptions confirm the rule.

Thanks for the information and the link.

I didn't know that Bucharest has two airports. You can find more information on the DC-8 at www.jetex.aero.

Best wishes

Sven
