I see today that the Danish foreign ministry has listed 14 countries - including the UAE - which Danish nationals should avoid as a result of the troubles over the cartoon incident.

With EK having announced its decision to serve CPH, is this likely to go ahead?

Hopefully, the whole issue will pass, but there's a lot of ill feeling in the Arab world towards Denmark (and other European countries where the cartoons were published) and Danish nationals may not feel comfortable travelling on an Arab airline.

Danes will feel "comfy" on any EK flights, at least I will  Smile

Lets hope things are back to normal, in a few months.

Cheers

I have just returned from Dubai - on EK - and I have not felt uncomfortable in any way. On the contrary actually. Though we have seen some very unpleasant pictures on TV lately, most Arabs I have met have only wanted to hear more about the cartoons, the real reason of their printing and wanted to share there their view on the matter. Not one single time has the been any bad feelings towards me as a Dane. It is a complex matter which I shall not debate here. However I will fly EK -or any other Arab airline for that matter - again whenever it is the best connection. Just like I have done until now. And I would advise any other Dane to do the same just as my Arab friends are as welcome in Denmark as they were before these events.

I commend and salute your response. I am from Dubai and as you welcome us in Denmark, we always welcome you in Dubai. Yes we Muslims are sad and upset about how our prophet was portrayed , however we are not against the Danish people and we condemn any violence or acts of arsony that have occured. Our religion does not teach us to be violent... these are people out of control and they will be punished

For a while I also thought that EK would cancel the CPH flight. (at least for nearest future)

Dont know if you noticed that few days ago the announcement of the CPH flight were removed from www.emirates.com.

But yesterday it was available again.

Smart move by EK to remove the news while all this tension and bad publicity about Denmark in the ME region.

I also saw that the news was back but CPH is not yet back on the routemap as a "coming destination"...
