I have been looking at the different type of aircraft pics on this sight. My questions is what are the last 3 numbers of the aircraft type: IE; B767-3p3 or B737-321? I know that it means that its a B763 or B733. But, what are the other numbers for...???????

The last two alpha-numerics, for Boeing airplanes, are the customer identification. A 767-332 was build for Delta, a -322 was built for United, etc. Boeing actually has a list on its website but I don't have the link. For Airbus the last digits represent the engine type.

They are dsignators for a specific airline, so with Boeing, anything ending in -36 is British Airways. These designators are carried throughout the life as they refer to the specific specifications of that aircraft for the original airline - Qantas have a number of B767-336's flying that are on long-term leases from BA. The Qantas code being -38.

For Airbus the last digits represent the engine type.

0 (as in A330-203) is GE
1 (as in A340-313) is CFM
2 (as in A330-322) is PW
3 (as in A320-232) is IAE
4 (as in A340-541) is RR
5 hasn't been used
6 (as in A380-861) is EA (GE & PW)

Thank you. I have always wondered about that...... It makes sense. Just like with IATA. Each airline has their own Alpha number.

Thanks for the help again

What do the very last digit mean?, eg what is the difference between
A330-203 and A330-201?
