VCE (Venice Marco Polo) is seeing some Volga-Dnepr An-124 movements this week - one came in on a ferry flight from Baku, Azerbaijan, last Monday, and it flew to SDA last night, returning to VCE today in the early afternoon. The aircraft leaves again for SDA tomorrow at midnight, returning to VCE on Friday and then leaving again to SDA on Sunday.
I actually went to VCE today to meet up with a few friends and go spot the Ruslan: RA-82043 came in as promised, about 20 minutes early too. Needless to say, it was an amazing sight, and even more amazing for the ears (the roar of those Lotarev turbofans was clearly audible several minutes before the aircraft actually became visible)
I noticed that all SDA-VCE flights are marked as ferry/positioning flights. Does anyone know what Volga-Dnepr might be transporting from VCE to SDA?
We also saw more military patrols and policemen than usual supervising the terminal prior to the Antonov's arrival, which left us quite puzzled...
