I will try to sintesize the recent airliners news from ITALY:
ALITALIA is looking for partners and the $$$ loses are enormous, the fleet is inappropriate especially for the regional connections and long-rage one. Now the ERJ's took service, the B744 have to come, the Airbuses income, but still AZ is in trouble.
AIR ONE trying do the best they can, operating B737's to major destinations, very penalized by the Malpensa Airport they operate from Bergamo. Generally they are doing well especially for the fares but PUNCTUALITY (as for others) is a bad things for them.
AIR EUROPE - VOLARE, not only expanding, AirEurope more A320 and Volare more A321, not only private and stock quoted, not only excellent service and fares, advertise, everything, I think that these two from VOLARE GROUP are going to revolutionate the Italian skies.
ALPI EAGLES, first troubled now recovered wth it's F100 they started to offer particular destinations and fares nad seams to do well to them, recently changed image and now they look very serious. They plan to acquire ERJ145 very soon, good luck.
MERIDIANA, Agha Kan is selling its quote there and the market is open, considerable fleet of MD's and AVRO RJ's, good airline, good service but never breake trough, I am not certain of what is going to be a future with it, possible merger, but with who?
AIR DOLOMITI, a small LUFTHANSA nothing else to say, efficent like Germans, excellent under every view, soon they have to take the CRJ's and to start jet service.
GANDALF, I was sceptic, but they did it and now with 6-8 328 they are easily taking a considerable part in the Italian sky.
AIR VALEE, regional one, concetrated to the region of Vale D'Aosta (on the French boarder), opertaing the Do328Jet.
FEDERICO II, regional from the airport of Foggia, religious caracter to connect this region to the main airports in Italy.
Above this ones there are various start up's and smaller ones, like Victoria, Syfly, ITalair, Minerva, Air Sicilia, Med Airlines, Eureka, etc.
Thank you.
