More details are in:

Apparently Moscow is not a problem, Manchester is. The commercial and operational formalities with airport authorities are taking longer than expected.

I am surprised that Manchester is the reason. Wouldn't be surprised if it would be SVO.

So will Aerolfot ever place its order?

My understanding is that the Russian authorities reneged on the original agreement of granting 5th...

and without a stop in moscow, CX couldn't make MAN profitable on a non-stop basis..

I wonder where the A343 will be redeployed now?

The problem laid with the Russians. As SU had no traffic rights of their own between SVO and MAN, they couldn't justify giving CX the onward rights to MAN.
CX was planning on using a 34D on the route.

Full story on the 'upset' is here on their website.

SU used to fly between Moscow and MAN. Did the licence lapse or something?

Who needs MAN? Send it to DUB; there should be no problem getting rights there and we'd love to have a direct route to HKG!

What happens to the pax who have already booked from MAN; I had understood that the MAN part of the route was doing quite well.

Red faces all round for Manchester Airport then if they are really to blame for all this....

As it stands we have had little delivered on the promised new services this summer: no CX, no EY as yet and no sign of LN.......

Aren;t the route development team doing well at MAN!!

So the lack of rights between SVO and MAN is now MAN's fault?

EY's service NEVER had a firm date listed per MAN's release - all it talked about was 2006, possibly as early as Spring.

So LN not turned up - did MAN ever "promise" anyone this service?
