AA 951 JFK-GRU Cancelled, Why?

Hardi,

Due to the the cancellation of some JFK-GRU flights, todays GRU-JFK was also cancelled. CO GRU-EWR face the same situation. But Varig RG8864 departs GRU at 0:05 (half hour ago), with ETA at JFK around 7 AM.

Also the same for GIG-MIA as the aircraft is used on some domestic flights to cities like BOS.

ANC might be more capable of removing such amounts quickly. It is most economically efficient to plan for events that occur 95% of the time rather than the 5% of the most severe events. Three-feet of snow at JFK falls into the 5% of severe events.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but once you are talking about a major snowfall, does it matter much if it's 8 inches or 24 inches? I mean, the airport had to be closed anyhow, but now that it's open again, does all the extra snow matter because the runways have to be cleared no matter what.

Felipe: RG flight landed in JFK at 06.12am.
