on a trip to US with Lufthansa take a look:

? ? ? Chicago-San Diego (codeshare possible)
Then we'll rent a car and drive up the west coast
(LA,Las Vegas, San Francisco,Portland, Seattle, Vancouver)
Vancouver-Chicago
Chicago-Frankfurt

Do you have any thoughts (codesharing,...),
have someone flown the same flight ?

I agree with you, but YVR is beautiful, there are alot of places to see planes, the airport is a site to see, plus you can see different planes, sometimes better then ORD, lots of the flights at ORD are domestic...are you sure the LH tickets to YVR were sold out? is it that popular? wow!

Lufthansa is a Star Alliance partner, and the US partner is United Airlines, and also ORD is United's largest hub. So I would bet that your flight Chicago - San Diego is on United.
