Do u think that any North American Airline will buy the A3XX? Now there is no airline in the US that operates Airbus widebodys only Air Canada in Canada. There are only United and Northwest which operates the 744 which is the biggest plane now. Is the A3XX good for the US-Market?

US Airways operates the A330-200.
American operates the A300-600
Fed Ex operates A310-200s A310-300s A300B2s and A300B4s
Several charter and scheduled service providers also operate the A300 and A310 in the US.
With that said. I do NOT expect to see US orders for the A3XX anytime soon. US carriers are moving to more frequent service with smaller aircraft that generates higher yields then larger aircraft less frequently that often requires discounting to fill the plane.

The A330 is in service in North America. I'm not sure if you're aware, but US airways is operating them from PHL-LGW (CDG, FRA?). There is not a strong market for intra-US routes which would support the costs of operating an A3XX. Perhaps on JFK-NRT, SFO-HKG.

Minor correction, US Airways flies the 330-300, not -200. But general dittos. US carriers especially are leading the world in fragmentation (probably because this particular country is large and has many cities that warrant nonstop traffic). That pushes for smaller jets on longer runs instead of collecting at a hub to fly a superjumbo.

i agree with RayChuang.Even if US airlines don't buy the A3XX it will probably fly to america on such routes: CDG-MIA or LAX or JFK with AF,SYD-LAX with QF (which is considering the A3XX as a perfect replacement for 744 "longreach") and who knows,maybe one day UA and NW will be tired to send many 744 and DC-10 across the pacific....wait and see,remember both UA and NW are already Airbus customers even if for the moment they bought only single aisle A/C

From a purely economical point of view, its gonna cost carriers a lot less to fly LAX-JFK in 4 A3XX's then 11 767's (like AA). The DOC's of the A3XX will be so low per seat compared to anything else. More comfortable seating could available, with smaller jets providing secondary city or off peak services.
The US is such a big market you will see many international A3XX services from 2006 on, but internally, customers may demand frequency over comfort. There are limited practical markets domestically compared with internationally.

Atlas has been looking into the aircraft for years and have stated that the A/c that has the best economics will win. They are evaluating the A3XX vs. 747X. Fedex and UPS have also been said to be looking into the aircraft. If the A/c is as good as Airbus claims, we'll be much more likely to see A3XX freighters flying in North American skies.

I think the new International Terminal opening this fall at SFO can be easily upgraded to support the A3XX. The resaon is simple: it's very likely that both SQ (which will likely sign its firm order by the end of this week) and CX (which has publicly expressed interest in the plane) plans to fly this plane on the popular SFO-HKG route. (Note: it's very hard to get tickets for a flight from SFO to HKG on UA, SQ and CX unless you're willing to do at least 30 day advance purchase.)
With Virgin Atlantic possibly signing its five-plane order for the A3XX as early as the end of this week, that's another reason for SFO to upgrade the new International Terminal. I believe that LHR/LGW-SFO is one of Virgin's more popular routes.

I have to agree with FLY DC JETS; while I'm sure we'll see A3XX passenger service here, I think the only operators might be cargo.
Although I obviously won't say this with any guarantee, Airbus was hoping to announce 22 orders for the plane at Farnborough. They've now done that. I doubt SQ will sign, as they are still looking at the 747X, and I think Virgin will probably wait as well. Also, there is talk the the 5 ILFC planes are destined for Virgin, instead of a direct order.
