Yahoo! Airline Accidents (accessible via Just Planes Videos) suggests that the aircraft was 'BTSC. This aircraft was built in 1975 and entered service in October 1980 with the airline.

Hello,

I think there's a mistake. According to the French media, the aircraft would have been delivered to Air France in October 1980.

The aircraft would then be the F-BVFF.

A thought to the passengers and crew of the aircraft.

Best regards,
Alain Mengus

Hello,

According the airfrance.fr, the Concorde is F-BTSC.
This Concorde was the heaviest of the AF's Concorde fleet (one more tonne than the F-BTSD, the lighest).

That may have made the task even harder for the emergency landing.

Sorry for giving wrong information.

Prayers and thoughts for the passengers and crew of the aircraft.

Best regards,
Alain Mengus

Air France actually took delivery of 3 Concordes in October 1980: F-BTSC (cn 203), an early-production 100 series model [which they had previously leased from Aerospatiale a couple of times since its first flight in January '75], and F-BTSD (cn 213) & F-BVFF (cn 215), both 101 series. These last two were from the last batch of 4 that were built without buyers in 78/9. When no buyers came forward, these aircraft were taken by BA and AF (2 ea.) in October 1980.

When I first heard the news of this disaster my first thoughts were "Oh heck, I bet it's that one that AF has just taken out of mothballs" .... and my premonition was right, it seems.

To see a history of F-BTSC, see the following page at Gordon Roxburgh's excellent Concorde SST website:
http://www.concordesst.com/203.html. Gordon is the "gordonroxburgh" who started this thread - it must be an exceptionally sad day today for you and the other Concorde enthusiasts, Gordon.

By a strange coincidence, I only got around to setting up my Concorde database for use with my Airliners.net work this past weekend - and now it's already out of date.

A sad day, all in all ....

My thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones and colleagues today ... courage to you, as you deal with the empty spaces.

Regards,
Andrew (Southflite)
