Quoting PADSpot (Reply 2): Is the livery really painted onto the skin or is it just a foil as with the Emirates livery?
Good question. I can see an A380 in SIA livery outside at the abreuvoir here in Toulouse. I do not know if this is the one pictured above and if this is MSN004 or not, in preparation for the Singapore Airshow.
Although SIA livery never looked appealing to me, the A/C looks beautiful with the huge letters "Singapore Airlines" written all over the fuselage.

I didn't know that SQ was modifying their livery to "billboard" the Singapore Airlines name on the aircraft. I wonder if this is just for the A380. Any thoughts?

How BIG are the Singapore Airlines titles.
That livery looks horrible to me at the moment, mainly because of how big the titles are.

Quoting WINGS (Reply 1): Even though one can not see the tail in these pictures.
The last photo shows the tail quite clearly - very nice!
Not sure about the billboard style titles - they make the aircraft look shorter and stubbier than normal!

I'm a bit disappointed. The titles are indeed very big and that doesn't look very nice (hopefully it's only for this one) but also there is this white area at the bottom of the tail (I think I noticed it also on the SIA production tail) instead of having the whole of the tail properly painted in dark blue.
I think it sucks and hope this is not a trend for the SIA livery!
On a sidenote, I really hope Singapore Airlines will soon upgrade their brand and livery as I feel that even theirs is starting to show age compared to say Emirates. Although I wouldn't want too much white. Maybe bigger Singapore titles without full capitalization and a more oriental font. Some gold waves à la 50th anniversary special scheme and a slight modernization of the logo (some well placed serif).

Don't get me wrong. I like the A380, but I thought it should be more impressive in SIA livery. Perhaps it is the enormous letters on the side of the plane, that makes the plane look smaller and thereby much more regular?

Now a question i always wanted to ask. Why is that Airbus always put super huge SIA logo on the engines of planes for SIA starting from A343 onwards. It looks really ugly. I prefer the way it's done on the Boeings. Is it Singapore Airlines' discretion or is it Airbus'?

Note also that the tail is not completely painted. I guess the aircraft will be repainted pretty soon again as this aircraft will not be delivered to SIA, but to Etihad.

Quoting NA (Reply 20): The tail is not completely painted.
What do you mean?
The tail on this demonstrator is decorated in exactly the same way as will be on the 'real' SIA A380s, with a small white section at the bottom where the tail section of the fuselage slopes downwards to the AUP exhaust.

im afraid that AFAIK, SIA are planning to have the huge titles on all of their A380s. of course, id be glad to be proved wrong! there was a recent thread about the SIA livery, and i agree that they missed a golden opportunity to update it.

I think the same. SQ is not leading anymore concerning design, expansion etc. .
I like the A380 generally, but it looks just okay with the SQ colors.

Nice looking bird.
But not as nice as this little beauty. The titles on the A380 do in fact look a bit out of perportion in relation to the A340-500.
