I remember reading a Flight International article in 1988 when the A300s entered service, and I'm pretty sure the first revenue flights were out of Dallas. They were delayed beacasue of thuderstorm activity in the DFW area. Although now AA mainly uses the A300s out of MIA and on shorter Atlantic routes, when the A300s were ordered AA had no MIA hub and their Trans Atlantic network was small and served only by DC-10s and B767s.

AA has never scheduled A300s into DFW. There have been A300s that have come into DFW on rare aircraft substitutions and diversions on the former MIA-LAX routes that the A300s use to fly. AA also use to fly the A300s into LAS from ORD in the early 90s. I dont think the AA A300 inagurals were out of DFW, I think it was JFK.

I was listening to DFW ATC late one night earlier this summer and heard the tower request somebody to fall in behind "American ___ airbus heavy." Maybe it was my imagination, but it could have been an A300. I don't know what other Airbus heavies American has in their fleet.....
but i've never seen one there....sad thing...and no 737-800s either
