Currently Air Berlin offers cheap vouchers ( 29 € all inclusive ) through the Lidl Supermarket chain in Spain...
An inexpensive way to get to most AB destinations ,since all taxes are covered within the 29 €.

How exactly is that working? Do you have to purchase over a certain amount of food or are there other stipulations for the voucher?

You just buy the voucher for 29 Euro each in the Lidl supermarkets.

Sales will start the first of March and will last eight days. A good opportunity to travel to Palma de Mallorca, Germany via PMI or other cities of Air Berlin's network for a good price!!

So 2 of Germany's most despicable companies teamed up to gain ground in the Spanish market.  thumbsdown

With a bit of luck you can find similar deals with other LCCs.

The Metro might be the Sub(optimal)way
