My friend flew United from Denver to Chicago. the plane went to Utica, New York, cause the pilot and co-pilot got the wrong information. HOW can this happen??? Whats up with UAL?

That is crazy, but I do not believe it. Pilots know where they are scheduled to fly each day and they would have noticed that it was the wrong info. Maybe your friend was not telling the truth.

UAL has been crazy since they had a 2x5x2 seating in the 777. They should have gone for a 2x4x3 seating like Swissair and KLM did in their MD-11s. alot more comfier. or a 3x3x3. I flew aircrafts with the 2x5x2 config transcon, trans pacific and trans atalntic. Very vncomfortable especially in the middle.

As long as there is 9 abreast with two aisles there will always be a seat that is two seats away from the aisle. And besides I don't hear you complaining about Continentals 2x5x2 seating or AA's for that matter same goes for NW's DC-10's.

UAL is the best.

Are you positive that two AIRLINE PILOTS could mistake CHICAGO, IL for UTICA, NY??? Does United's mainline operation (i.e. non-Express) even SERVE Utica?

Firstly, I don't live in the US, so I know practically nothing on US airline operations.

Is United that bad? Or are you saying their service is bad within the US? What about their International operations?

I thought they were meant to be quite good, as a friend I have in the UK, flies with them to Buenos Aires ex-LHR, and has nothing but praise for their service (I think he flies club class though-"Connoisseur Class" on UA isn't it?)

As for the above flight arriving at the wrong destination, it's certainly happened before!

Hello! WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING?   United does not even fly to Utica. The pilots know when they bid for a line where they are going, and on what flight.  The only way thew would not of gone to ORD is if they had to make an emergency landing!   That line is one of the most frequent lines for pilots, in that all pilots at some point in time have done that trip. DEN-ORD is between two hubs, and the largest ones at that. Maybe your friend got on the wrong flight?

Let me ask you this: Why the hell would a SANE person fly United, and be treated like a cow, get food spilled on you and other crap. OR you could fly American, TWA, or another COMFORTABLE airline?

United blows...

Dear Virgin A340,

I am sorry that you do not think that 2-5-2 is "a lot more comfier" what ever that means, but if you don't like the comfort of that middle seat, then ask for an isle or window. I have said this on other forms, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SIT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MIDDLE. I think that all those people that do not like 2-5-2 must think that if they get booked on an airplane with 2-5-2 that FOR SURE they will have the middle most seat. Well I got news for you, only 11% of the seats in a 2-5-2 are the middle seat in a bank of 5, so your chances of getting that terrible, "very vuncomfortable" seat are pretty slim. Now look, you've got me flapping my gums about the unsolvable issue! Sorry I wasted this space.

OK, This thread saddens me about the quality of this board...for these reasons.

1. TWA902Fly's absurd claim that "The pilots got the wrong information." This is crap. An aircraft going from DEN to ORD doesnt wind up in Utica because the pilots got the wrong information. Maybe there were weather problems at ORD??? BTW, if this DID happen, which I seriously doubt, it would be ATC's fault. UA doesn't route the planes while they are in the air.

2. LGW's post "UAL R CRAP" lacks not only proper grammar but also basis for why "UAL R CRAP". A three word post does not earn a member respect in any setting, especially this forum.

3. Same goes for the other posts saying "UAL is the best" and "No they are not the best." Care to back up these statements?

4. The thread evolving into an airline bashing post for the way they configure their seats. (Don't book a middle seat if you don't want one!)

5. The thread evolving into an airline bashing post due to one disgruntled member who backs up his posts with such deep and thought-provoking statements as "United blows."

Don't get me wrong. I love this site. I think it is more informative and has more interesting topics and better, more qualified members. However, threads like this just churn my stomach.

the complaints show that united is a pure mistake, just go to untied.com and you won't believe how many complaints UA has gotten, and those are only complaints that were put on the internet, they are definately more than those. just my 2 cents

The Press somethimes gets things crossed, but I have seen a lot of these problems first hand in Florida and Colorado. People scrambling to find flights out of TPA, DEN, MCO, MIA, etc. with American, Delta, AirTran, etc. to get home because some pilot has had the arrogance to stop a flight on the tarmac because he doesn't like the way the baggage was loaded, or how hes feeling. Come on, this is managements problem, pilots can get greedy, but some if not most deserve it.
