In Singapore to go to Asian Aerospace. An article in a local paper states that Air India and Indian Airlines are looking at merging. Anyone with further info apart from Air India And Indian Airlines May Merge (by LAXDESI Feb 20 2006 in Civil Aviation) ?
Also statements from Air India Chairman Mr V Thulasidas stating that Air India is in discussion with Exim Bank (USA) and "also in discussions with other banks" to pay for 68 aircraft.
Have the 68 aircraft been ordered ? or are they "subject to finance", and not "sold".

The deal has been signed, and the advance (or equivalent paid). Now AI needs to arrange for the rest of money - which would explain their shopping for funds. I guess they'll have to pay the money in installments or against each aircraft (I'm not familiar with how this is done so any inputs would be great).
