Wow, I always thought that ATL-YYC could be a possibility, but never imagined DL would start nonstop service. Good to hear!

Wow. That'll be good to see Delta back in YYC. Those Skywest CRJs just aren't the same.

The article wasn't clear- Is the YYC flight only for the summer, or will this be permanent? I would have thought that DL would put mainline A/C on YYC-SLC before adding an ATL direct flight. I remember DL had a LAX-YYC flight in 1997 that continued on to YEG. I wonder when that stopped.

I wish they had more non-stops to Canadian cities. Really would have come
in handy last year when I had to go there around 20 times.

Excuse this interruption, but does anyone know how the loads for RDU-LAX and LAX-RDU starting 08Jun06 look?

How are the loads for RDU-SLC and SLC-RDU looking around that time? Is this flight still going out full?

Thank you for the interruption.

Interesting to see the Calgary route, but I suspect that it will be summer only. Atlanta-Vancouver does fairly well during the summer with 757's, but this year was the first Delta tried YVR it year-round and from my personal observation, the loads were pretty weak. Initially the flight was supposed to be daily, but has slowly been cut back to eventually 2 weekly. Based on this, I doubt Calgary will go year-round. As for Salt Lake City, I think upgrading a few of the CRJ flights to CRJ-700's would be a good idea, especially the early morning flights allowing east-coast connections.

OK, so speaking of adding Canadian cities, would it be worth Delta's while to consider nonstop RJ service from Atlanta to Hamilton or London, Ontario?

Seems the DL is trying hard to do some new things.

Wonder if they would ever serve someplace like CWA...

Doubtful, due to the proximity of YYZ. What I could see DL add to Canada is ATL-Quebec City, with CR7s, ATL-YEG (long term) 2-3x weekly 738 during the summer, SLC-YWG with CRJs, and that's about it.

Moving away doesn't mean losing interest or not keeping up with the area. Besides, I plan on moving back end of this year/start of next.

The title of the article is "Delta Continues to Grow Summer Schedule in Atlanta" so one could assume quite clearly it is summer only.

Great to see DL mainline back in YYC! Awesome to see ATL service its been a while in coming!
Upgrading some of the SLC flights to CRJ-700 would be smart or even some E-170 would be better!

I am happy too. I think this will be a successful route, similar as to when AA launched DFW-CID 6 years ago as there are a number of business ties between the two cities, not to mention the numerous connections that can be made there. It would be nice to see a late afternoon flight to connect to the international flights also, but as long as we have one flight this is a good start.

Awesome! I been predicting this for the past 2 years that Atlanta would soon be added to Calgary's network and now it looks like it has happened.
Not to worry about the 738's, the Delta flot tails will be a nice addition to the terminal skyline.

I just hope that those Delta charters will return this summer to YYC with 767s or bigger. Anybody know? Some Insurance company to reward good employees by taking them to Canadian rockies.
Prudential or Wells Fargo or something?

Chance favors the prepared mind.

checkmark  It would be nice to see another flight, but like you said it is a great start and opens the door to prove to DL how well the flights will do.

I'm surprised that U.S. flights to YVR and YYC don't do well in the winter, considering that Whistler and Banff are very popular skiing areas in the winter.

That said, I'm curious as to how well DL will do on ATL-YYC, considering that AA dropped ORD-YYC. Those flights were often full, although it seemed that a lot of Asian tour groups were on those flights, so maybe they yields weren't that good.
