"Airline Without a Pilot" by Harry Nolan is a recent book about Delta and its decline into bankruptcy. Has anybody read it? Is it worth buying?

I just finsihed it, and it's a pretty good read, considering its written by an "in the know" consultant, and lists both the pros and cons of various major decisions in the companys history, as well as the almost silent rigging of the Board of Directors during the Mullin regime. Also gives some tips on how DL might be able to leave bankruptcy and still provide the old "Delta Family" style of service it used to be known for.

Worth buying and definately a good read.

Quoting WesternA318 (Reply 1):
an "in the know" consultant

Isn't that an oxymoron?

Thank you...

Overall, have to say, while informative, I got annoyed by the author's writing style...

Altho, interesting to see an insider's point of view of some sorts vs. all the back/forth bantering here on A.net (pilots vs. management).

There is another good book out .... might be just in Georgia but I was at the Barnes and Noble here in Norcross (suburban ATL) and the have a bunch of small historial books at different towns etc ( in the "local" section) and they had a really neat book about the history of Delta...seemed very comprehensive.

Experience is what you get when what you thought would work out didn't!

There's a good 3+ pages on the topic, pros and cons, mainly cons.

LOL, I think consultants are living oxyMORONS, and I am ONE!

It's not like he makes a living from writing, lol. I met him at a Wings Club function early last year, seems like a very nice fellow.
