Hey all-

Well, will be traveling to CHS over spring break using our SkyMiles. DL emailed me our itinerary, so of course the first thing I do is go look up the a/c types. We're booked on #856 from ATL_CHS. Is that a/c type right???

ok the picture isn't working- it says we're booked #856 on the 25th of March, ATL_CHS, on a 737-200. Any input?

DL flies that oil burner in here to DAB I think twice daily, and they use those ridiculously Stage III Uncompliant wonders of 60's technology into Cleveland I think 3 or 4 times a day.

If they were "uncompliant" we wouldn't be allowed to fly them.

A 737-200 is the World War II Jeep of passenger travel. So is a Douglas DC-9. The fact that so many are in passenger service after so many years and cycles is astounding.

I flew HNL-ITO last August roundtrip and enjoyed the ambience of this battle-tested beast. It was old, and I felt like I was in a time warp, but like a fine wine, it had aged gracefully and got me to my destination as surefootedly as a camel crossing the Gobi desert.

Yes, they will soon be gone from the skies - enjoy one last trip while you can!!  cloudnine

DL still owns something like 80 73S's...the largest single current owner of the aircraft in the entire world i believe.

can anyone else refute or confirm that fact.

Yes, I'll refute it. DL only ever owned/leased 52 737-200's. Many of them have been retired.

The 732's are paid off therfore they are still hanging around. Eventually they will all be gone, but until them enjoy. We were parked next to one in HSV a couple of weeks ago when working a trip out of CVG.

It's called a "hush kit". They are 100% compliant....rattletraps, but compliant.

Tired of airline bankruptcies....EA/PA/TW and finally DL.

We sure like the little pig! F Class was dreamy in row 2. I miss this bird here in GRR, and yes that a/c does kick ass.

Yeah, I think i overstated it with the "80" haha...but I seem to remember reading somewhere that they still had 50+ of the 200's...

could be wrong of course.
