I have a question. If I travel with AV, SQ, MH, SA, EK, LY, VS et al (i.e., carriers who are DL's mileage accrual and redemption partners), will my accrued SkyMiles count towards Medallion status?

Only SkyTeam, Alaska and according to a thread on the Delta forum at FlyerTalk, Virgin Atlantic all earn MQMs. Other partners won't earn DL MQMs, unless you're booked on a DL-coded ticket (e.g. booking LY's JFK-TLV flight under a Delta codeshare).

Wow! When I flew VS a year and half ago, I didn't get MQMs. Good to know - I like to fly the airline, but I am an MQM whore and that takes priority!!

It's a real weird partnership...I vaguely remember reading the thread on FlyerTalk...basically, it used to be you could earn SkyMiles but not MQMs, now it appears you can earn miles and MQMs, but you cannot redeem miles on VS anymore...

I haven't read the thread for about a month now, so my memory might be a little hazy and I didn't really feel like re-reading the 8 pages on that thread...
