Was driving home today around 4:30 local time & noticed NW 57 coming in from AMS in the A330. I didn't realize that NW had changed from the DC-10. Flight Aware shows the A333 being used since Feb 15th.

How many A330's does NW have active right now and how many still on order ?
Will they 1 on 1 replace the DC10 ?

Thanks

I saw the ams A330 this past tuesday (2/21). I had a brain fart and forgot NW flew AMS-MEM, and thought maybe it was a substitution for some other flight. Didn't realize what it was doing there until I was gone. Still nice to see though.

Is this a temporary substitution of the DC10 or is it permanent?

I was planning to nonrev on NW AMS-MEM at the end of March or early April just to fly the DC10...

Amadeus is listing Apr 2nd as a DC10.

Travelocity & Expedia show the flight as an A330, nwa.com shows it as a DC-10.

When are the DC-10s scheduled to be completely phased out? I think I remember hearing that the last route to be switched will be MSP-HNL, but I can't find a date yet that shows an A330. Also, does the A333 have the legs for that route, or will it be an A332?

Next flight: GRR-ORD-PDX-SEA-ORD-GRR

If you are asking about MEM-AMS then yes. NW has used the 333 on SEA-AMS until recently with no problems.

It is just a temp. switch until the end of the year. Soon it will go back to DC-10's till the end of October, then it will switch to a A332 permanently

In SEA I found an interesting item. The A330-300 on the SEA-AMS route actually sits for over 24 hrs in SEA. Thus it there are sometimes 3 A330s in SEA midday at once.

One arriving AMS-SEA
One departing SEA-AMS
And the A330-200 NRT-SEA-NRT that turns.

Not very efficent use of the aircraft. They could use a single A330-300 SEA-AMS-SEA or use an A330-200 NRT-SEA-AMS and AMS-SEA-NRT.

So whats a quick count of which NW airports receive the A330s?
And if they could be broken down by -200 and -300 that would be a real nice bonus!

Arn't their supposed to be about 6 more A333 deliveries this year? when are they comming? I cant wait untill MSP-LGW becomes an A333....even though it will be for about a month this spring, then the DC-10 comes back for the summer. whats the deal with that anyway, why cant it just stay an A330 for good. I know lots of brits in the MSP area who are sick of the old DC-10. Also I searched nwa.com and found that MSP-LGW is still up and running for next winter, who thinks it could get cut again?

But during the it spends at SEA they are doing maintenance on it. about 1,5h's after arrival from AMS they tow it over to the maintenance hangar, which close to the south satellite.

So the 24h's it spent at SEA were no waste of time.

I don't how how are doing with their 332s that are operating the flights to AMS now.

The A330 apparently made its last trip into Memphis yesterday for this stint. Flights 57/58 don't currently operate on Mondays, and for some reason they don't appear to be operating on Tuesday, 2/28, either. Starting Wednesday the flights will be operated with a DC-10.

Where are the NWA A330 flight crews based? I'm guessing DTW and SEA, any other bases?
