Newco is what your thinking of... It won't be a "low cost" airline. Please change your title, it makes it sound like there was an announcement of them starting a lcc.

Hehe, seriously though....

Supposed to be called Newco (terrible name choice, don't you think?)

In a nutshell, it's the outsourcing of mainline pilot jobs, shifting those pilots into flying smaller equipment under a smaller subsidy, and having the ability to pay those pilots shit. Another one of Steenland's labor-busting tactics.

If the pilots and NW reach agreement, there may not be a need for "Newco".
We shall see where it all ends up.

I think NW settles with the pilots, but 9E becomes NEWCO, with furloughed NW pilots going to the top of the payscale and keeping their seniority.

Newco won't happen. The overwhelming feeling in the pilot group is that they'll shut the airline down before Newco happens. And they really have nothing to loose, if it does happen... many of their jobs will be gone anyways. So, end up unemployed with Newco out there, or end up unemployed with the mainline pilot profession still having some dignity? Its not a hard choice.

Of course, if they don't reach an agreement, there won't be a need for "Newco" either.

'Cause you're on ATA again, and on ATA, you're on vacation!

Is this kind of the same way that US set up MidAtlantic?? Don't they use furloughed pilots from mainline to fly the E170??

Newco appears to be dead, since apparently the pilots and management agreed that NW pilots would fly the new aircraft, the only undecided thing is pay. Thus, to me that says that "newco" as a seperate entity is no longer going to happen as Newco and it will all remain NW mainline.

"Some People Just Know How To Fly"- Best slogan ever, RIP NW 1926-2009
