From what I understand this is common on new routes where one of the two cities is a much bigger target market. In this case the UK. I wish Virgin well but I really don't know how well they will be able to compete with EK given the frequency and quality of service as well as the number of points of origin in the UK. On top of that passengers transiting DXB will really have no good reason to fly VS.
