Virgin Atlantic Starting LHR-DXB This Month

When I looked into their sites the fares looked reasonable from LHR-DXB which were about Dhs 1900 but the fares for DXB-LHR was Dhs 3600! Is this some kind of site error?

No, they are likely trying to win UK customers back from EK, but less concerned about winning UAE based customers over from EK. Many carriers do this on new routes.

From what I understand this is common on new routes where one of the two cities is a much bigger target market. In this case the UK. I wish Virgin well but I really don't know how well they will be able to compete with EK given the frequency and quality of service as well as the number of points of origin in the UK. On top of that passengers transiting DXB will really have no good reason to fly VS.
