While picking up a friend arriving on Southwest at the A concourse at DTW I was able to view the action from the runway ahead. Planes were lining up and taking off from my left to my right. In the mix were several dc9 from nwa, a 757 from dl, rj5 from nwa, 737 from usair, and saab 340 from nwa.

I watched for the length of takeoff run. The 340 was by far the shortest. I was surprised that the rj5 run was as long as the 737. I was also surprised that the dc9s were longer than both rj and 737 and the 757 longest of all.

Anyway it entertained me while i waited!
