I cannot believe this hasn´t already been reported.

A Sibir Airbus (should be an A310) skidded off the runway in MUC. There is heavy snowfall in MUC, but it isn´t yet known if this was the case for the incident. All of the about 170 persons on board left the aircraft on emergency slides. Nobody was injured.

I don´t have a link. This was reported by local radio stations, therefore the information may not be completely accurate.

Wow, surprising that it happened to an airline like Sibir, I would think that their pilots are very experienced when it comes to snow, ice, etc.

As asinine as this sounds I'm sure its just like driving a car - no matter how careful you are when ice is involved even the best driver can still get caught out through no fault of their own.

This is true. Today, with my family, we were driving on small routes in the Alps. Pure ice. Almost crashed into a snowplug because of this...

I just read it on the Spiegel Online and was about to start a thread. Is Sibir a mainly charter airline or mainly scheduled airline?
thanks

I hope everyone is alright and uninjured. Do we know if the airplane is damaged, or not?

Here´s the official press release, I´m sorry, in German only:

http://www.munich-airport.de/DE/Area...rchiv/textarchiv06/PM09/index.html

Main informations:

Nobody was injured.

It was indeed an A310.

200 metres after takeoff had begun, for an unknown reason, the aircraft "left" the runway and ROLLED on non-concrete ground at the side of it.

This afternoon, the stranded passengers were taken to their destination by another aircraft.

http://www.munich-airport.de/DE/Areas/Consumer/Abfluege/index.jsp

On this page you can see the replacement aircraft took off at 13:00 o´clock local time. It was another S7 A310.

Another piece of news: Antenne Bayern reports the aircraft was removed from the runway around midnight. Again, in German only:

The article also says there´s no school for me tomorrow because of the snow.

HOORAY ! Big grin

I'm glad everyone is ok. Icy runways can obviously be very dangerous, no matter how skilled the pilot was, sometimes its beyond their control. Unfortuntely that is exactly what happened.

Saw it on the news and it was an white A-310. How much have they in white instead of full green?

Ah, now I understand. I haven´t heard about that incident, but it could be true. Maybe you find the confirmation when looking through the press archives on MUC´s website.
