I cannot believe this hasn´t already been reported.
A Sibir Airbus (should be an A310) skidded off the runway in MUC. There is heavy snowfall in MUC, but it isn´t yet known if this was the case for the incident. All of the about 170 persons on board left the aircraft on emergency slides. Nobody was injured.
I don´t have a link. This was reported by local radio stations, therefore the information may not be completely accurate.

As asinine as this sounds I'm sure its just like driving a car - no matter how careful you are when ice is involved even the best driver can still get caught out through no fault of their own.

Quoting Sabena332 (Reply 1): Wow, surprising that it happened to an airline like Sibir, I would think that their pilots are very experienced when it comes to snow, ice, etc.
Patrick

This is true. Today, with my family, we were driving on small routes in the Alps. Pure ice. Almost crashed into a snowplug because of this...

I just read it on the Spiegel Online and was about to start a thread. Is Sibir a mainly charter airline or mainly scheduled airline?
thanks

I'm glad everyone is ok. Icy runways can obviously be very dangerous, no matter how skilled the pilot was, sometimes its beyond their control. Unfortuntely that is exactly what happened.

Ah, now I understand. I haven´t heard about that incident, but it could be true. Maybe you find the confirmation when looking through the press archives on MUC´s website.
