Does anyone know if this airline has a good safety record ? I am considering flying them from DOL (Deauville, France) to HEK this summer, the prices are really good, but I am always concerned when it comes to small airlines I don't know.
If someone could tell me more or tell me where I could dig more info on Aegean Airlines, that would be very appreciated.

I flew them FCO-ATH in October, right after connecting from a CO 764 from EWR. Probably the beast coach class for a European airline that I have flown in a quite a while. Really great service, and a cold meal enroute! Comfy as hell too...

We flew with them to Crete last August and found them to be really good.
I like you, was wondering about the Airline before we went, but there was no need, the Airline was excellent and I have never been in such clean A/C !

They are a very good and safe airline that have slowly and carefully expanded during the years. They have a fleet of 733s/734s for their international and some high density domestic routes and RJ-100s for the rest of the domestic routes. All the aircraft are equiped with leather seats, pitch in economy is 33-34" (I think) and excellent service. Not sure about IFE though. Probably better than most European Airlines.
I'd rather die peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather, not terrified and screaming, like his passengers

Last summer I helped a Greek fellow teacher at my school book her trip to visit family in Athens. She would call Delta and use her miles, but she always liked to have an itinerary, as she said, "I always get better service when I know the flight numbers ahead of time".
She asked for Olympic's domestic schedule for Athens - Channia, Channia - Thessaloniki, and Thessaloniki - Athens. I provided them for her, as she preferred to buy her plane tickets in Greece.
When she got back, she gave me a trip report. She told me, "NOBODY in Greece flies Olympic domestically - it's the most nightmarishly run operation in all of Greece! My family wouldn't let me fly them under any circumstances. Instead they brought me to Aegean Airlines, and the service was just incredible! Just on domestic flights, I got a snack and a VERY comfortable seat on the plane!!"
Yes, I will be helping her again for her travels for this summer...nice that she can go SAN-ATL-ATH rather than adding another stop at JFK...and of course, she will be flying Aegean again!

Hi to all
Last summer I flew both OA (july) and A3 (september).
I have to say that both airlines service (Y class) was medium, with cold/hot decent meals on intl flights, with complimentary wine and drinks. The service was only slightly better on A3 and I was expecting something more from a prized airline.
The ticket to Crete was much more convenient with A3, with OA raising its fare from july to september in an incredible way.
On A3 733 I was seated on 15D and my seat (and many others more in the near rows) was broken and reclined "automatically" during take off.
Punctuality was average and the Avro from ATH to CHQ was very nice.

I'd echo the above and add the following:
Since late 2005, they have been partners with Lufthansa on all their routes and from what I gather LH now places its code on all (or at least most) A3 flights. That too me is the best commendation as I am pretty sure that LH would only cooperate with a safe and reliable airline.
You can earn miles with Miles 7 More if you are a member. Not sure about other Star airlines though. I suspect that before too long they'll become regional affiliates of the *alliance.
