There are some changes to YVR's summer schedule as show on its homepage.
Thought it would be interesting to inform those who are not aware yet:
JL 15/16 will operate again this summer using the 744. So this will make YVR-NRT a 10x weekly flight again
It is also interesting to note that JL 17/18 will extend their ground time a bit. I wonder what is the reason for this. Their current ground time is about 1hr 50 min, but this will be extended by 10 minutes. (When I flew on this flight, about 10 times now, the plane never was able to push back on time. Our longest push-back delay being 1hr 30 min).
Also, AC will not fly the 9/10 route this summer from what I see on the yvr homepage. So no AC to NGO this summer?
I see that the double daily KIX flights will operated in the summer months
And AC will also bring in two A330-300 from LHR. I think this is the first time that they are doing this? I have seen one A330-300 and one B767-300 in other years. And also, their 3x daily LHR flights will be cut down to two during the entire summer. Are they in a seirous shortage of aircrafts? I thought LHR and NGO can bring profit to AC?
KLM will start its weekly ops again from its 5x weekly. They will bring back the MD-11s. I hope they keep it this way for a few summers
Other than that, LH will operate its A340-600 this summer rather than the B744 that they brought in last summer
And Qantas that everyone is waiting for. They will fly in on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays with a 744 aircraft. I am glad that they have a ground time of close to 4 hours at YVR. This will give it a lot of time of photographing.
Also, has anyone heard about JL increasing their YVR flights the whole year round? I heard that in return for slashing NRT-LAS-LAX-NRT or KIX-LAX, they will increase their YVR flights but.....

Had forgotten about QF going to YVR ... looking at fares for SFO-YVR however, does not seem that they are getting into a dogfight with AC/UA. Maybe because their buddy AS is also in it. Truly a good sight at YVR ... I remember the days they flew the 763s, watching them from the RCMP lot

Quoting Jayce (Reply 7): heard that Northwest was dropping YVR altogether, I guess not.
I think the service by Northwest in the summer is to honour cruise ship commitments made in 2005. from what i understand is they will drop vancovuer at the end of the sumemr season and not return.

Kinda amazing if Northwest does drop YVR as they have had a strong presence in YVR with up to 6 daily flights during the summer. Guess there goes their marketing campaign of being the best US airline to Canada.

Quoting Jayce (Reply 7): Does anybody know if Air China is using the 767 on all flights?
I did see a 744 come into YVR last year for about one week (different from prime minister's jet). I have been keeping track of China 991/992 but when did they stop the 743 service? Also, when did Korean switch to 772ER from the 744? Was this because they increased frequency?
BA, that would be awesome. Is that why AC is not doing its triple daily runs this summer?
I will miss DL's 763 that used to come in every Friday from ATL this summer though.
