Internet Booking Mistake

I booked flights over the internet last night and made a small mistake on the form. I have one of the party's names wrong way round - surname instead of first name etc.

The return flight has one change on route. Air France want €50 to change the booking. Is this worth it or will I have problems when we go to fly?

If AF make the name change on the booking (for the 50 Euro charge) there will be no problems to fly.

To be honest I don't think it will be a problem at all. I know of loads of people who have flown around the world with the same problem and it has been ok. It is a common problem, for example on western airlines when dealing with Middle Eastern/Asian names with surnames and forenames the wrong way round and sometimes forenames replaced with an initial only.
As long as there is no major discrepancy between the name on the passport and the name on the reservation (by that I mean two completely different names) you should be fine.

Hi I agree, the fact that the Surname and first name are the wrong way round shouldnt be a problem. I suppose it depends on the people you get on the day when they look at your tickets/boarding pass compared with passport and but as Saintsman states the names are the same just the wrong way round, simple "clerical error" best saying. Its a bit strong AF charging for swaping the names around, can understand a completely new person but sometimes there should be some flexibility on individual cases.

As an example I book a flight with Monarch 3 weeks ago to fly to Faro from Manchester for me and my wife. When booking i didnt realise instead of booking going out on Friday and returning on Sunday, i entered the incorrect return date being the Saturday. It was only a couple hours later when I surprised my wife with the information on an email, she said how long are we going for, thats a quick trip you tight thing, did i realise. I rang Monarch and they changed it to the Sunday without charge. The also forgot to reselect the extra leg room on the return flight I had initially booked so had to ring them again to get them allocated as I had already paid for it. They again did this without charge.

I have to say I have dealt with Monarch quite a bit in the last 6months amd their aircraft, customer services, flight deck and cabin crew, reservations, web site, facilities etc.. have to be one of the best for no frills airlines in the UK.

I did exactly this with CX, I rang their service centre the same day and they changed it free of charge. I don't think they'll charge you!

Cheers,
Noel
