I recall coming across an article not long ago regarding SriLankan Airlines resuming services to Australia, more than likely Sydney & Melbourne via Sydney... Any one have info regarding when this service will be resumed considering SriLankan has a short fall of aircraft after the terroist attacks in 2001....Any info would be great...

Just to add, I have a friend who will be traveling to Sri Lanka in the next 6 -12 months & I mentioned it to him that AirLanka was probably resuming a direct service....So any information would be great...

As you have mentioned due to no aircrafts available at the moment it is unlikely that UL will resume service to Australia. For sure not within the next six months,as the summer schedule is already out.

UL started codesharing with EK on SYD and BNE. That is what they meant by restarting flights to OZ same as when they advertised as flying twice daily to JFK, same scenario with EK aircraft. Bit misleading but technically correct.

After cutting of ZRH and reducing frequencies to different long-haul destinations such as FRA and CDG I highly doubt to see UL in Australia before 2008.

As mentined already it will be unlikly that UL starts flights to Austriala as there will be in first place changes again in the euopean network next winter.
Also UL would need additional long haul aircrafts to start flights to Australia.

Also they are cancelling even some LHR flights due to lack of crew. Mass exodus of pilots to Jet Airways, Etihad etc.

So no route expansions in the foreseable future for UL.

Very unlikely to happen.

This year at least will continue to see the push into India. With Cochin high on the list.
