hi everyone.
We all know (or should by now) that John Travolta is a pilot and has his commercial certificate. (at least he should since he flies around in his 707). But what was new to me tonight is that Tom Cruise also holds a commercial license. So my question to everyone out there is which other famous person (actors/actresses, singers, political individuals) also has a private or higher and actually flies themselves around.

One last thing, Mr Cruise seems to currently be training to fly a P51. My brother saw him flying the aircraft. Did the landing, take-off and a couple high-speed fly-bys of the airport.

Harrison Ford flies helicopters and has crashed at least once and thankfully walked away with only minor injuries.

Dexter Holland is a pilot. In fact, he's an ATP and CFI with a couple type ratings. He's owns and pilots a Citation CJ2 and has done a solo around the world flight in it. Also has a PhD in, if I remember right, molecular biology. Pretty impressive guy.

Now you're asking yourself, who is Dexter Holland? He's the singer for the band The Offspring.

Aside from him, there are lots of other famous pilots out there. Both John Kerry and both George Bush-es are pilots. So are Dr Phil, Patrick Swayze, Angelina Jolie, Kurt Russel, Alan Jackson, Arnold Palmer, Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman, etc

Alan Jackson,

who this guy?

being a actor/actress doesn't make you a movie star.

Is GW Bush an actor? He certainly doesn't come across as a president, but maybe he's acting in front of the cameras ???

since there seems to be a lot more famous individuals that have a pilots license, is there a website that might have what certificates they would have? such as muti-engine, or IFR or Commercial rated??

We mustn't forget the greatest celebrity pilot of them all Mr N707JT. I believe is also has a type rating for 744s as well.

Also, Irish racing driver Eddie Irvine flies helicopters and light aircraft.

Niki Lauda obviously
I also believe that the Sultan of Brunei can fly some of his collection as well.

I've seen a TV show on Discovery Channel where he take viewers around the world showing different commercial jets that have flown commercially. I can remember shows on the Comet, Concorde, B727 and I think A320. Other ac (specially Boeing) received attention, but never saw those shows. He flies in all of them (except the Comet, of course). Nice show.

He says his favourite bird it's the 757.

Good luck.
