I have noticed that PAL's fleet has now increased to 31: 744 (4), 742 (3), 340-300 (4), 330-300 (8), 320 (3), 737-300 (9). I think they should get more 744s or 340s. Does anyone know of future routes PAL will be servicing. Europe, additional North American cities, etc.
I really think they should relaunch the airline with a new image given that they have been consistenly profitable since rehabilitation. Better brand-imaging, new uniforms, better marketing, new routes, etc.

Philippine Airlines's in Asia'a first airline and I think it will expand in the next five years. I also think that whatever aircraft PAL orders it will Airbus and I wouldn't be suprised if they order the A340-500 or A340-600.

You two evidently know very little of the airline past/present condition. PAL is a deeply troubled airline owned by Philipine heavyweight Lucio Tan. Tan is close friends with President J. Estrada. Much has been brought up about this in local media, suggesting that Tan's close ties to Estrada have given PAL preferenital status in the country and even allowed PAL to inapproproately forgive some of its financial obligations, with gov't help.
As you may know, it was only two years ago the airline had to shut down for several months due to heavy cash shortage and little investment from Tan and company. PAL has also had trouble with its flying routes to HKG among other airports, as The Philipines bilateral agreements with neighboring countrys have been/are being negotiated upon.
The airline is up for sale by Tan, and although its financial statements have been less than forthcoming, I don't believe the airline has turned a net profit in the last 2 years.

Hi,
Does PAL currently fly into YVR? I know they used to...why did they stop if they did? If not whats their frequency and what aircraft do they use to YVR? Is the route profitable?

Well, asyou can see my user name is a PR 744 !!. I have enjoyed all my flights on PAL and the fact that they are once again growing is great.
Here in Hong Kong they have up to 5 flights per day !!. This went down to one during their problems. I've also heard that two of their A340-300's that were returned are coming back at the end of the year.

They have recently added Sydney and Pusan to their routes. I've read somewhere that they're planning to add flights to Vancouver, Guam and Hochiminh. What about Chicago, Newark, or other European flights. Can some PAL experts provide some infos.
