AA DEL-ORD Weight Restricted?

I've been cruising travelocity and AA.com looking at their seating charts for their flights ORD-DEL-ORD. I'm a window seat fanatic but I've noticed that the flights out of ORD about a month in advance to DEL have very open seating and are not booked very heavily, but when you look at the return seating charts, there's very little to choose from in the way of seating. The only seats left available are a select number of middle seats. I was wondering if AA was blocking out seats due to weight restrictions and if these window seats would open up once checked in for the flight or perhaps they've just booked people on the window seats on the DEL-ORD runs?

initially, the loads from ORD-DEL were very heavy and the DEL-ORD loads were light........it could be many are just coming back from India, hence the ORD-DEL loads are light.

I've heard that this route has been doing well for AA and I hope this route continues to do well

I hope the route does well for AA as well. As my favorite American carrier, it's nice to finally see them branching out with exotic routes such as these. DEL, PVG, etc. Now we just need AA at HKG and PEK!

funny you mentioned HKG, I was thinking of the same thing.....UA has this route completely cornered sending either one or two 747's per day.......

I think AA could do well sending a 777 to HKG, especially given the strength of their OneWorld partner CX in HKG........Star Alliance is very weak there...

that being said, I think CX would start HKG-ORD-HKG before AA start ORD-HKG-ORD...

All the flights on AA to HKG are sent via NRT or KIX at the moment with my options leaving OKC to either ORD or DFW.

I disagree. I think that AA is grinding their teeth wanting to tap into the HKG market with their own metal.

BTW, when they had the TPE flight, weren't they thinking of eventually making TPE a mini-Asian hub for themselves seeing as UA and NW dominate NRT?

not sure though if AA will get the route authority........maybe its one city they have as a list of "potential candidates"....

not sure about that....but after the dot.com bust (which coincidentally is the 6th anniversary of the NASDAQ hitting its all-time high), AA really started to de-emphasize SJC.........such a shame....

maybe if AA gets 787s will they start to think about SJC again......

Eh, SJC will never be much of anything. Bleh, I flew into that place from NRT before they added the international (two gate) terminal. The customs "shack" was a shocker after getting off the 777 flagship flight. I know it's better now, but I just don't think that SJC is going to amount to much. Of course you remember that random flight to CDG from SJC...that was a "WTF?" moment.

SJC does ok as a secondary airport.........SJC has improved and is improving...

in fact, I'm going to be flying SJC-NRT sometime in the summer.. biggrin ....I'm well excited about it......

yes......CDG was during the dot.com heyday also.........

oddly enough, with UA cutting their SFO-CDG route with their 763, only AF has the SFO-CDG route to itself right now..........

AA has a large frequent flyer base in the Northern Bay Area....but besides NRT, it doesn't have an international base at all.........which stinks....
