What Can I Expect On CO's DC-10-30

I'll be flying EWR-GIG for a total of 9 hrs and 25 min. in September. The cheapest ticket was with CO. Can somebody give me the low down on CO's international DC-10-30s and what I can expect?

I flew one of their DC-10-30s that has the 282 seat configuration and it sucked. I love Continental and the DC-10, but when I was on that plane I was wishing I wasnt. I noticed on their webpage that the 242 seat config the seats have less recline than the seats in the 282 so It will probably be worse. The service was great and the plane was in immaculate condition (inside and out) but the seats ruined the whole experience. If you have enough frequent flyer miles than try to upgrade to businessfirst, it is excellent as far as comfort, friendliness and service.

I had a good experience on one from MCO to EWR, but it was BusinessFirst.

I flew on a Continental DC-10-30 from MCO-IAH a couple years ago, and I thought the DC-10 was very nice, but a bit cramped.

I have flown on our DC-10s over 150 times (seriously) either deadheading or nonrevving and have no problems with them. The 282 seat DC-10-30 is not that bad, as there is one block less of BusinessFirst and one block more of Coach. Not to worry, though, those are mainly used on the high-demand Air Mike flights to Japan and Hawaii. You can put money on the fact that the DC-10 you will be on is a 242 seater, unless they pull one out of Micronesia for maintenance, which is unlikely since CO has a widebody overhaul facility in HNL. The good thing about that plane is the fact that there are usually a good 15-20 empty seats in BF on those routes. The only time you see that entire cabin full is when you are on the DC-10 to LGW. Even in coach, the entertainment is good, and I do enjoy the food.

I miss those DC-10-10's with the First Class Pub. Anyone remember those?

Hell yeah 777gk, I definitely remember the DC-10-10's with the pubs. My family used to fly them regularly between IAH and LAX in the early 80's. I was only about 8 or 9 years old, but my parents, brother and I would hang out at the pub during the flight. Always seemed to be a party going on there. Those were the good old days of flying!
