The news said there were a comfirmed 2 dead, one being Peter Tamarkin (sp), the host of the 80's game show "Press Your Luck" and his wife although not posted on their site yet. Story is linked and follows as well.
A small plane crashed in Santa Monica Bay Monday after apparent engine trouble. One person was killed, another was rescued and third person was being sought, authorities said.
The Beech A36 went down about 9:35 a.m. while apparently trying to return to Santa Monica Airport because of engine trouble, said Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer. He cautioned that the account was based on preliminary information.
Three people were reported aboard the plane and searchers recovered one body and rescued one person alive but in unknown condition, said Coast Guard spokesman Nathan Henise. The search for the third person continued.
The site where the single-engine plane hit the water was about a half-mile southwest of Santa Monica Pier.
A local television station reported from a helicopter overhead that the plane went down 200 yards to 300 yards off the beach.
Lifeguard boats and surfboards were clustered at the scene.
Weather at midmorning was sunny with five-mile visibility, according to the Santa Monica city Web site.

Now they are updating some info. Plane was headed to the San Diego area for an "Angel" flight or something to that affect where private pilots donate their time to fly the sick to different hospitals for treatment.
Peter and his wife were found but the third passenger is still missing.

I am kind of shocked at this. I mean, I watch GSN all the time. Weird. What an awesome thing they were doing with Angel Flight!

Thats shocking. I loved Press Your Luck in its day and still enjoy watching the reruns. Peter Tomarken was a good man and a class act. My prayers are with his family. Unfortunately, the whammy finally won.
