Quoting SK909 (Thread starter): Due to the Muhammed paintings, Emirates has decided to CPH temporarily.
I knew it was going to happen. It's sad to see aviation industry suffering because of some people mistakes.I was planing a trip with EK from CPH this summer!
Heia Danmark
Alex!!!

Interesting development.
I wonder if this was a political or economical decision.
MEA is still scheduled to start up its summer seasonal CPH service from BEY on May 30 operating twice weekly on A330-200s (a few weeks, it will be once weekly).
Infact, some of the flights are already getting quite full.
It will operate until August 19 this summer season.
I guess this means MEA will be the only link between Denmark and the Arab world.

It was never a summer seasonal service. They operated year-round and was originally a Snowflake route, they then dropped it along with several other destinations last October.
Oops, you're right. 1x weekly TUN-ARN-CPH-TUN on an A320.
Quoting Cedars747 (Reply 10): As i said "Summer season"so it should and in October!
It's been canceled, indefinitely. It was never a summer seasonal service.
It was originally a Snowflake route and when the Snowflake brand was shut down, it was transfered to SAS when they finally decided to drop it last October.
It's gone for good.

Hardly any surprise - it was only a matter of time before it was dropped. A shame really, as it was showing approx 1000 bookings pr week. Can anyone remember the frequency they had planned?

Quoting NumberTwelve (Reply 12): EK started HAM services a couple of days ago - so maybe this is the reason why EK drops CPH.
I highly doubt EK starting up service to HAM and being apparently successful with the route already has anything to do with CPH getting temporarily axed.
as you can see above "Cedar747" DOES miss them as he wanted to fly with them out of CPH and now, if still wanting to use their services has to "feeder" to another place. It is very sad that such political hickups have such consequences.

It is also unprofessional from them... This is really surprising indeed. I thought they were smarter than that.

Quoting CPH-R (Reply 13): Can anyone remember the frequency they had planned?
I think it was 3x weekly on an A330. After the first month it was supposed to be daily.
I think it is silly, but it is not necessary that political reasons are the only ones. The market for Danes could be harmed due to the fact that many Danes now feel unsecure to transit through the Middle East. However, the 1000 average bookings a week (source: http://politiken.dk/VisArtikel.iasp?PageID=443250) suggested a really good start orr a route starting in october with 3x daily?
Last flight: SAW-CPH on H9 on 02/11/09 - Next Flights: 23/12/09 CPH-AAL on QI, 30/12/09 CPH-LHR on SK, 19/01/10 CPH-CDG-
Quite a number of pax will ! (I don´t, as my travel takes me to other regions of the world than served by EK).

Alex (Cedars747) has to use a feeder flight from his current hometown anyhow ...

Well i never flew them before ,for this reason i was happy about Emirates from CPH since CPH is an ideal intercontinental hub for me

Well in part you are right since PIA an Iran Air fly to Denmark

That's right HT,so i guess i have to use your country as another option for Emirates

People you have to understand that there was alot of pressure on EK to postpone the CPH service due to the recent incident!! I live in Dubai and even though we didn't have any violent demostrations and thank GOD for that, the situation is still stagnant.... The boycott is still on!!!!
I am not sure how long the boycott will last but... and eventhough it seems like the situation calmed down a bit, I think it was wise for EK to postpone the CPH service to avoid any complications.
I think the CPH route will be re-instated after the whole issue blows over. So give it sometime

I understand you ,but dont you think that people will wonder why Emirates and not PIA,Iran Air or MEA?

Alex!!!
Fly every mile with a smile !
25 JoKeR: That took a while! Never flew them, don't want to really...
26 Emirates2005: Cedars747 and JoKeR - Grow up. You are blowing a simple decision out of proportion almost sounding as if Emirates is responsible for spreading the hat
27 Cedars747: I don't understand your anger with me....I said that people will ask why EK and not PK ,IR or ME? where is the fault in that? Salaam ila al Imarat Al
28 Jaysit: Why? Because they stopped flying to Copenhagen? Most people don't care, as long as they get great service at a good price which is what EK is really
29 Emirates2005: Cedar747 - Sorry, honest mistake. Actually wanted to reply to the below text...I think it shows shortsightedness. I don't think the Emirates deserves
30 ME AVN FAN: suggest you schedule your holidays via Hamburg or via London why "expanding" such things out of proportion ! why should "other Westerners" change the
31 ME AVN FAN: and let me suggest to the moderators to shift this thread into the NON-aviation part. The postponement of the CPH-flights by Emirates is a minor matte
32 Cedars747: Emirates never flew to CPH before Alex!!!
34 Himmelstormer: Yet you talk about respecting other cultures, but at the same time you think it is okay for Emirates to cancel their flights to CPH despite the fact
