Great day for E190s.
Anyone have any info about E's production capabilities, and backlog?
Thanks.
What is interesting is the hight number of options, maybe CM wants to secure delivery slots for future growth.
In my opinion this airplane will allow P5 to operate more point to point service to international destinations from secondary cities in Colombia that previously were routed through BOG.
I hope this means they will also introduce Clase Ejecutiva on P5 flights soon.

What are CM's plans to fully integrate P5's operations into their own? It appears the acquisition of the E190 is the first step to fleet homogenization.
What are CM's commercialization plans for P5? Will CM apply its branding to P5, or will the Colombian carrier continue marketing itself as AeroRepública? Will P5 only operate domestic cabotage routes within Colombia, or will it also operate international routes ex-MDE and ex-BOG?
Do CM/P5 have contingency plans to operate flights ex-CCS, should Venezuela and the US fail to reach an agreement regarding CAT I status from the FAA?

If the Colombia - Panama bilateral makes the need for CM to own P5 in order to offer more frequencies between Panama and Colombia, it's a good idea for CM that P5 would have fleet commonality.

Good for AeroRepublica and for us spotters to see things different than MD-80s here, I didn't expect the order so soon, but I'm glad as I said.
I just hope it is not the beginning of AeroRepública having a Copaish color scheme.
I gladly accept donations to pay for flight hours! This thing draws man...

Congratulations P5!!!!!!!!!!!! I think those are great news for Colombian airports, which will hace a brand new visitor, not so common around here. Can't wait to see one in their livery.
Now, we'll just have to sit and wait for AV's expected order. A and B must be getting ready for their proposals, which have a deadline late this month.
So far, great news for colombian aviantion.
Good luck.
Next flights: AV BOG-ADZ-BOG, AV-UA BOG-IAD-ORD-IAD-BOG, BOG-FLL-BOG, LA BOG-MIA-BOG J

Wonderful news indeed. It sure surprises me as I didn't expect to see regular E-jet services so soon in Colombia. The first delivery is barely 8 months away.
Quoting Luisca (Reply 1): New it would be soon. I had been predicting this for a long time, The number seems a bit low, only 5 firm?
I believe it's a reasonable number based on the current fleet size of AeroRepublica. Ordering more frames would mean doubling the fleet in a second, which would basically result in many spare aircraft with no inmediate place to send them.
I see two interesting points that could eventually take place:
AeroRepublica already serves all of Colombia's main domestic routes with its current fleet, and they can still take care of the PTY-bound feeder services from MDE, CLO and CTG. I definitely picture AeroRepublica expanding elsewhere, possibly international, as there is no case in simply bringing these new birds in order to increase frequencies in the already existing national routes [most of them are already over-served]
It's likely that AeroRepublica will get rid of the couple of older DC-9s left in the fleet, which have been threatened to leave since quite a while ago. The smaller DC-9s are extremely useful for operating one or two of the several daily BOG-MDE and BOG-CLO shuttle flights. Given that frequency in these routes is higher, there is not always the demand for the MD-83's capacity [the mid-morning flights tend to be lighter for instance], cases where the E-jets will probably come-in handy as well.

It just makes me sad to think the DC-9s will go. DC-9 is the Airplane I have flown the most in my life and all the times with AeroRepública, they bring me memories of long gone flights, the blue, red and yellow colors and the AeroRecocha times. Besides, when they go the only DC-9 operating here will be baby diesel 9-15 that belongs to LAS Cargo... and I don't get to see that one very much.
This will be one of the bad things of the E-Jets coming besides the Copa scheme thing if it's made.

I just read in the Embraer news release that they will be configured in a single class layout and I cant believe they are going to do this, what is wrong with CM/P5? in order for P5 to market themselves as a world class international airline they need to offer benefits to their higher paying customers, also passengers connecting to P5 flights from CM flights and that were travelling in Clase Ejecutiva in Copa wont like flying coach on P5.

Don't get your hopes to high, you will be lucky if they say Aerorepublica at all.
Seeing that CM didn't even bother to put IFE in their E jets I highly doubt you will see PTV's. Especially since CM seems to be maintaining P5 as a coach only airline.

Yes yes I know... but hope is the last thing to be lost, and will be lost the day I see an AeroRepública plane painted with that scheme with this eyes the worms are going to eat pff. When that happens I'll whine like an elder grandpa and damn Copa and then after some 37 minutes I might start to calm down.

How many times Business Class passengers complain that commuter planes (like E120/135/140/145) only have economy class?
Wouldn't CM be making P5 look like their Colombian commuter/regional airline?
IMHO, for flights of less than 75min, Business Class seats aren't really needed that much.

Specially if you are a business person, you want to have access to all the business class's benefits, regardless of the duration of the trip... (Preferred check in counters, comfortable seats, laptop hook ups, VIP rooms, etc...)
Sometimes you pay for the ticket of an important client and you can't send him on coach...that is a big liability when conducting businesses..

Quoting Argentina (Reply 21): I hope to see some E-Jets down here in Argentina some time...
The E-jets appear perfect for regional city-pairs with high frequencies, AEP-MVD, AEP-COR, etc. Maybe AR, PU or LA/4M will acquire some in the future.
However, AR needs to i) settle labor issues; ii) integrate its 737-500's; and iii) consolidate its financial position before considering an order for Embraer's wonderful E-jets.
Should AR succeed in listing its shares on the Bolsa de Buenos Aires [which has been planned for several years] and, perhaps, even listing on the NYSE like JJ, CM, LA and G3, then it can plan for significant strategic investments.
