Just a quick notice... The New Kitakyushu airport opens today according to Airliner World magazine. It replaces the old airport, which had a 5,000 something foot runway in hilly terrain with an 8,200 foot runway in the bay.

Starflyer, a new airline based at New Kitakyushu airport, starts operations today with its three A320s from that airport to Tokyo Haneda. Here is the first A320 in its striking livery:

Didn't see a thread about this, so I thought I'd just let people know.

How soon do you think before they get rid of those A320 and get B738's.

What's the airport's code? I'll admit to not knowing where that is in Japan, but as an airline/airport fanatic, I'd like to zoom over on google earth. If you've already pinpointed it... Please send a link.  bigthumbsup

Can you also give more info on Starflyer?

Thanks,
Lightsaber

IATA code is KKJ, ICAO code is RJFR.

According to Wikipedia, Starflyer has started flying KKJ-HND 12x daily. I quote Wikipedia: "Once the Kitakyushu-Tokyo route is well established the airline plans to open routes to Shanghai, Beijing and Seoul from Kitakyushu."

The A320s are configured with 144 seats, each with PTVs and hookups for laptops.

Interesting livery, a little too much black for my taste.

Does anybody know who's the engine manufacturer?
