For the second time in one year KLM placed an order for one Extra A330, wich is going to be leased from ILFC. The plane will be delivered in may 2007, making a total of 9 A330's (3 leased , 6 owned) in KL's fleet.

KLM is really expanding the last few years, as they also eventually will have 18 777s (8 more than the original order for 10 planes)

the total long-haul fleet will be:
4 747-400ERF's
22 747-400's
18 777-200ER's
10 MD-11's (wich will now stay even after 2012)
9 A330's

quite impresive if you ask me...

KLM and KLM asia is exact the same, just like Swiss air and Swiss air Asia in the old day's.

What a fleet!
KLM only gets the best planes! I was thrilled when KLM decided to keep the MD-11s in its fleet. I think the combo of A330s and B777s will prove the be big advantage for KL.

Will none of the 744's go as the other 777's arrive? Or maybe become freighters...?

KLM A330s are flying to IAD, EWR and I've got one at JFK two weeks ago.
Maybe they will put one to ATL.

A332 only operated that route a few times, it's now flown by M11.
A332 switched from ACC to AUH/BAH

Yes, it's a very impressive fleet and I can tell you that those A330s (and, let it be said, other types!) look superb in the new KLM colours.

I understand that KLM is expected to announce an order for 737NGs sometime this year, to replace the old -3/400s.

Actually, it's 13 737-800s and 5 737-900s, so 18 737-800/900.

Soups,

MD11 now on ACC as mentioned above. They changed the A330-200 out of ACC around late February. The 777-200 starts on 13 April.

compared to the A332 & 77E, the MD11's are truly horrible for long-haul flights. If they will be around till 2012, i hope they will be re-furbished inside?

25 Kl692 : Where do you guys get this information from. I am flying to ACC in October from YYZ and I have always wanted to be onboard 777 so I really hope they
26 Mauriceb : Correct, from 2006 they extanded to 2008 than they extanded the retire date to 2012 and now they will be retired in 2015. So they will definitly be r
27 Post contains images LouA340 : KLM is advertising it on their website. I dont know if they will still be running the 777 in October though. It looks like it will run for the summer
28 Aerokiwi : Those 744s are in desperate need for an upgrade. The original (BFA) is atrocious for the passenger and has the most antiqauted inflight entertainment
29 JRadier : as far as I know there is not much difirence between the seats and IFE from BFA and BFY, or any 744 in between
30 Kappel : Indeed, in the last year I've flown BFA,BFL and BFN, and seen no real difference in seats and IFE. Because there is none.
31 Kl692 : The seats on the 744 are very good. and Very relaxing.
32 Aerokiwi : I've only travelled on -BFA so was leaving room for the possibility that newer deliveries had better interiors. I guess they don't. Ahahahahahahaha!
33 Soups : Thanks for the info
34 Kl692 : Well I am not jokin and no I have not travel on anyone other airline with 744 except KLM and the seats were very good.
