Hi, who makes the models of a.c that never were? Im talking about models of planes that never got off the drawing board such as the "Bi-star" 600. Would be great to see models of aircraft in liveries that never flew like the MD-11 in Air Europe colours.

Great pic of the Bi-star here:

In the majority of cases, the models are specially commissioned by the aircraft manufacturers to promote sales of the aircraft to the airlines. Bearing in mind that each aircraft sells for millions, a specially commission model at (probably) £20-£30 is chicken feed in the sales promotion budget.

Apart from the MD-11 in Air Europe's colours, I have seen models of BAE 146s, A320s and MD11s in British Caledonian's full livery. None of these aircraft ever flew with BCal (although for a brief period a pre-delivery A320 appeared in BCal livery).

The models are very rarely available for sale to the general public, who can normally only get hold of them at auctions or on ebay.

I once saw at an airliner show back in 2000 a booth that was selling 2 1:150 777-200s In alternet Delta liveries. The guy claimed that they were concepts of the new liverie that landed up being Wavey Gravey/Deltaflot.

One had the same layout as Deltaflot but had Black as a 4th coloe in the flag it also had the flag effect on the engines.

The other was in the standard Deltaflot but had "Delta" in a Billboard style (i.e. PanAm) The engines were that deep blue with the sideways Widget. I think it was the best liverie I've ever seen.

At one point you could by 1:250 scale models of the Sonic Cruiser off the Boeing website.

Virtually every large airline in the world has had models presented to them by all aircraft manufacturers. These models are for every aircraft type the manufacturer hopes to sell that airline.

Wasn't there a T-Tail 757 model floating around? I remember seeing pictures, but can't find them right now.

I own and display a Wooster Continental 767-300. I believe the -300 was ordered by CO but never taken delivery, or their order switched to something else.

Direct KNOBS, maintain 2700' until established on the localizer, cleared ILS runway 26 left approach.

During sales demonstrations it is standard for the manufacture to have models painted and brochures printed in the airline livery. This is a very small expense when compared to the cost of an new aircraft.
