Carlisle Airport has been sold to the owners of Eddie Stobart. Hopefully this is good news for the airport. Haughey (the previous owners) did try to develop the airport as a business airfield and they did bring in some improvements to the terminal.
You never know we could have a future cargo airport on our hands!!

Well, to be honest I'd say it's more likely that it will be demolished and turned into a huge distribution centre for the Eddie Stobbart road haulage network - you'll be lucky if there's still a runway there in 5 years.
Let's face it, it's in the ideal location .......
Statistically, people who have had the most birthdays tend to live the longest.
I see the idea of LTN flights has come up again. AMS is also mentioned
Quoting Bennett123 (Reply 1): My first thought was cargo, but the runway is only 6,000 foot which rules out most jets and the location is a bit remote.
Although didnt Gill Airways used to operate Royal Mail flights a few years ago?

Quoting CKT789 (Reply 7): Not really sure about the viability of LTN flights, unless they connect well with EZY flights...
A London flight would do ok I think, but with Virgin now offering quick service on the trains from Carlisle to Euston, they'd be hard to compete against.
When you hear the noise of the Tartan Army Boys, we'll be coming down the road!
