I have a question regarding the stored 707 at TXL now abused as a trainings object for the fire brigade.
What will happen when TXL is being closed in 2011, I doubt that they will bring the old 707 to BBI, I also doubt that it will get into a museum which is a pitty.
I have a bad feeling that this classic bird will be scraped after TXL is closed.
If this going to happen I would ask any fellow a.netters to sign a petition to safe this classical bird -I know this is not happen any time soon but I see dark clouds above this great bird.

Havent seen it close enough lately so I can not really say.
It was in a very good condition before it was being used a trainings object:

I hope it will eventually be restored, so they can put it in a museum for display. I'd really wish that the aircraft not be scrapped but rather maintained to display some of the history of LH.

There are LH B707 at Berlin D-ABOC and Hamburg D-ABOD.

I suspect that LH will not keep both, particularly if D-ABOC is in bad condition, (the last photo is 1995) particularly given that it is not a true LH aircraft.

The aircraft is originally EL AL I believe, it was given to LH as a gift for being a long time customer, LH gave it as a gift to the Technik Museum in Berlin.
The Technik Museum had no place to put it so it was on display at TXL for quite a while. Since around 5 years it is used as a training object for the fire brigade at TXL.
